Exactly. There isn't any real heat potential as far as tropical systems are concerned with just surface temps around 80.  You need 80 or better for like 25 feet+ for it to really help a tropical system. Of course, on the other hand, having record surface temperatures around here is certainly more helpful than having normal or below normal temps.

South Shore has been getting the shaft, especially near me in Lindenhurst.  Only a few drops yesterday for about three minutes.  Big storm that clipped towns just a few miles to my west a few weeks ago offered a glimmer of hope, but then slid southward and offshore. 

My lawn has that brown, crunchy, straw-like texture to it.  Can definitely use some rain!
