doncat Posted June 27, 2016 Share Posted June 27, 2016 we could be at the beginning of a long dry period...Since 1971 NYC had only four years with less than 40" of precipitation...2016 could be number five...The previous 45 year period from 1926 to 1970 had 21 years with less than 40"...If 2016 ends up with less than 40" it would be twice in five years that happened...The 1960's had six straight from 1961 to 1966 with less than 40" of precipitation annually...Driest year I've recorded here since 1981 was 37.68" in 2001...so far this year have 17.94".
