wthrmn654
Honestly, 1.1 shouldn't be felt, however, if it was shallow more likely to feel it. Also bedrock tends to allow more feel the shaking at times. Of course non of this may even be relevant to this quake thing

JerseyWx
I think it was a very shallow earthquake. The Ramapo Fault runs right through town, and I don't see else would cause a whole town to feel the ground shake.
wthrmn654
I dug around online, looking for possible underground mines, military establishment, etc. Nothing minus state park land. I did see that in Butler, that had also had quake in 1994, and 1998.

mattinpa
Well I don't think it looks good for the day 5-6 threat (though hope the interior can get something), but I don't think the threats are over for the winter. GFS has more cold and snow chances.

gravitylover
Those non events are what cause the most car accidents. People think 'oh no big deal' and then go slip sliding into someone else that thought the same thing.

Doesn't help when there are pros saying the same thing....I was wondering earlier today, from what I have learned here, if the signals are so obviously bad, why are people here even discussing a snowstorm? I mean, this is the NYC forum, so if it snows in Harrisburg PA really I don't care....I don't really even care if it snows on the east end of LI or in Philly. Does this make me a bad person? That's as far from me as DC....parts of CT I can understand, a little....the Poconos are way closer to me than Montauk. Well then, I am a bad person. Actually, Harrisburg is closer too....In fact, what is the east end of LI doing in the metro area? Is it cultural? Serious question, what should constitute the NYC metro area? Maps are flying around all over the place in here all the time. Look at the map below, you might happen to notice that LI has a certain...... Let's call it geographic relationship with NYC proper. I'd venture a guess as to that being a big part of the reason. If we're going by more of a weather related metric, OKX is closer to my house than it is NYC, and that's the WFO for NYC. http://metroeast_climate.ciesin.columbia.edu/images/mec_map.gif

JerseyWx
Gold Rush. I love the Truck series, but unfortunately NASCAR in general has changed. Pack racing today is causing more accidents, and it's become a lot more repetitive. Anyway, nice night at Daytona. Shame to see no one in the stands. I've heard people commute from the Poconos to NYC, but it is not part of the metro area. Otherwise I think your idea has merit.
