No leaves left in Dobbs Ferry. Must be an urban heat island thing.

I agree. With the exception of just a few trees that have some leaves left, most trees here in southern Westchester have already lost their leaves. I do recall seeing Central Park about 2 weeks ago and there were still many leaves left even as most were already gone up here in Westchester.

its true. I drive everyday BX to white plains and surrounding areas and its bare until around cross county pkwy and south, once you get into the BX its more bare than not but still noticeable leaves around. I see a few streets lined with green trees still, they have a canopy of tenament bldgs keeping it extra warm I suppose.

Tomorrow we go full 10 inches of precipitation below average for the year so far.

In a different perspective that's nearly 3 months' worth of rain that we didn't get. It's the cold season so it's nothing to worry about (unless you're a certain CT poster in the NE subforum). Knowing that nature likes to balance out we'll likely have a washout sometime in the medium term.

Eventually that sub trop jet is going to fire a monster noreaster

I've lived here now nearly 6 years (and in Philly for 2 years before that), but is it normal to have like 60-70% of the trees still full of leaves on Dec 5?

I remember late December 2011 (between Christmas and New Years) I went to the tree in the city and the trees that surround the skating rink had legit green leaves on them.

The grass all through Battery Park City looks exactly the same, as well. Just crazy. I think we've gotten down to 35 here, that's it.

I've had a few frosts since October in my part of Queens. This morning in fact was a nice, heavy frost. Obviously Manhattan won't experience that under these conditions.

Using Accuweather 30 day outlook and other tools, December will be warmest ever.   Jan. does not look good either.   Feb. will have to be the 'safety valve'  that prevents the warmest winter on record from happening.

Accuweather takes their 30 day forecast from the OP GFS and the CFS2..your aware of that right?

Those tools have gotten the motif right, if not the specific temps.   I would bet money that December finishes about +6 above normal----but would not bet on the record.

I would be thinking about finding a bottle of SPF 50+degs. (lol, ) neatly covered in X-Mas wrapping paper this year.   Think ---- Holiday Week 1982 but pray for a sudden stratospheric warming event in the wake of Santa's sled!

6 above normal at your location probably means no snow.

Best stretch of winter weather I can remember! Like we moved to SF. Cant remember such a persistent stretch of bone dry, warm, rained-out Pacific air masses.

Incredibly boring but sure it's been nice and this is clearly fall, not winter, weather.

I think we'll see mid to upper 60s next weekend. Classic setup for overperforming warmth, even a 70F reading wouldn't surprise me.
