NEGa
Just measured an inch on deck railing! Now for bonus inches!! Still steady and moderate here down to 26. nice! and absolutely. temp has dropped to 24.1 and the snow intensity has increased a bit the last 20 min or so. once the stuff in ne ga get to you you should be nearing what we have here at this point - 1.5"

NCWeSU
I actually think virga is falling right now in RDU area. Radar will suddenly fill in once the lower levels become saturated.

El Kabong
Steady rain and slowly edging toward 32. Robins AFB reported 32 at 4:00 p.m and a couple of the nearby automated stations (Byron and Fort Valley) are reporting 31 and 30 respectively. It will be interesting to see which type of precip wins out in our area. I'm pulling for snow!

burgertime
Literally snowing in my back yard! A very fine light snow but it's already sticking to the Jecuzzi top and grill cover.
Dunkman
I actually think virga is falling right now in RDU area. Radar will suddenly fill in once the lower levels become saturated. Of course it is, the humidity at RDU is only 31%. There isn't actually a triangle sized hole in the precip.
strongwxnc
1". Nice!! Looking like spots in the yard might have less then 1/2" but it is spotty. Just measured an inch on deck railing! ILMRoss
According to the beam height for radarscope, snow still has another 960 feet of air to get through over the triangle.
downeastnc
27 with a DP of 1 with light sleet falling I cant recall ever seeing something like that around here.....
Brick Tamland
Really strong lift over Raleigh at 9pm. Raleigh folks relax. Snow should start in next 1-2 hours. Short term models look good for a nice 4-6 hour period of moderate to heavy snow. The snow hole is not really it is due to the radar beam height which is higher away from the radar site in Garner and near the surface at the radar site. This should be posted in the storm and banter thread, too.
El Kabong
Some great radar returns over central Georgia right now with more extending back to our southwest. What I wouldn't give for some cooperative 850 temps!
MillerA
Dusting, 21 degrees. Two lanes road covered.
max100
I think the big issue here is that the NWS was slow in issuing the WS Warning and most schools/businesses thought that there would only be a dusting so it was pretty much a normal day for people on the roads, then when it came down hard at noon everyone tried to go home all at once. Like Snow jam 82 but a lot less snow and no ice, but same principle. The local media is a massive blame as well. They have closed schools before when we have had the sun still out in the morning. This was a major fail across the board.
Marion_NC_WX
Snowing the heaviest of the day, 22 degrees and about 1 inch on the ground. Roads are a mess here in the county. This is more than I expected.
