  1. we're done around here; moderate rain now. We just crept above 32 imby; another "near" miss, unfortunately.. Gainesville might get some light icing but the heavy stuff will warm things above freezing.
  2. Cupid showing some love up in NC, congrats to those getting snow!!
  3. Looks like much later precip onset ATL into NE GA lets temps & DP's get on up there, Greenville, SC and NE still possible for light icing. Rain washes it away. Waste of cold air.. Maybe around last week of the month for next opportunity,
  4. DP's running 5-10 degree colder than forecast from Boston on down; HP still west. Now we need the moisture to continue to trend quicker; might have something, still a big IF..
  5. Charlotte back to Atlanta to Athens DP's still 5-10 degrees below forecast. Moisture being delayed on the models allows the rebound which minimizes the risk back towards ATL. The event last winter had moisture moving in quicker than forecast which allowed wet bulbs to be reached much quicker and wound up lower than originally forecast. IF moisture comes in quicker than forecast on this one could be a bit more wintery..
  6. Dewpoints here in GA NE of ATL are running 5-10 degrees below forecast based on latest MOS for GFS & NAM; this will be interesting to watch as time goes on. The lowest DP for Gainesville for the next 24 hours was supposed to around 7 or 8; already -3 and that's on NW winds. Athens 7 or 8 and they're down to 1.
  7. You have any statistics to back up your inane supposition which comprises most if not all of your posts? Really amazing they let you keep posting these borderline slanderous comments.
  8. Thank goodness fish sky didn't start this; now we at least have a fighting chance..
  9. What a nice problem this would be to have; trends have been decent so they could continue.. Snippet from FFC AFD.. THE PROBLEM THEN BECOMES ANOTHER UPPER LOW/TROUGH DEVELOPS OVER THE MID U.S. AND SPREADS MOISTURE ACROSS THE AREA WITH A RELATIVELY COLD AIRMASS IN PLACE STARTING MONDAY. THE AIRMASS GETS REINFORCED BY A COLD FRONT MONDAY INTO TUESDAY. A MIX OF RAIN AND SNOW SHOWERS WILL BE POSSIBLE THROUGH THIS PERIOD AND THE OVERALL TRENDS WILL HAVE TO BE WATCHED OVER THE COMING DAYS AS TO HOW COLD... TIMING AND ANY SIGNIFICANT SNOW AMOUNTS http://forecast.weather.gov/product.php?site=NWS&issuedby=FFC&product=AFD&format=CI&version=1&glossary=1
  10. I think he was ribbing Joe a bit; mostly because Joe does tend to go on and on. Spann's another good one; they both say if they get it wrong or missed something but they're different. Spann is more short and close to real-time ; Joe is long term. They both are good people which is getting rarer these days. Love the pattern recognition and references to the past; too many folks forget with weather there's a lot to draw on. Been keeping up with him forever too. Tend to stay away from too many comments around this board, waste of time. The internet is awesome but tends to bring out the worst in wanna bee's and know-it-all's.. Pattern is there; we'll see if it produces. Just love the awesomeness of the weather....
  11. Watched him on James Spann's weatherbrains a week or so ago; he's passionate and willing to go out on a limb with long range forecasts that many of the "haters" can't and won't do. Was interesting listening to him talk about his Son giving him grief for not responding to the haters; he said that doesn't matter and he does his job; he can't worry about what people say. I like his enthusiasm and character. To heck with the haters; some of the "mets" folks seem to "worship" are just arrogant blankety-blanks, downright rude, and wrong more times than Joe.. Liking Joe sticking to his long range prediction for this winter; sure hope it comes to fruition around ATL and other spots where folks have missed out so far. There's no denying the pattern appears to be resetting for Fab Feb just a matter of will it produce. Not giving up hope until Spring.
  12. The mix in RIC couldn't have happened to a more deserving jerk; feel bad for the real folks though.
  13. we at least got a dusting; no shutout this winter.
  14. crapola here; fun times ahead for the next one.
  15. imagine the melt down if the coastal takes over late and heads ots
