Sally.. You weigh 150 pounds more than me  and I had more snow and shovelled the entire thing including where the plows came and pile 8-10 banks at the end of the driveway

You def didn't have the depth I had and had a few inches more if that. I really couldn't shovel also because I had no place to put it with fences all around. Snow blower FTW. I also shoveled my elderly neighbor out. My back hurts after a while because I abused it during my 8 years I worked for a builder as a laborer.

Becase there were huge drifts too. Where do you put 3-6' of snow with fences all around? That's what I meant. With the little one..I had to get it done. I wasted 4-5 hrs already..part of it trying to be nice. They are nuns across the street..maybe that saves me a trip to hell.

I mentioned the PSD yesterday to my gf. She looked at me like I was crazy. It's extra worse for the record breaking events because you realize it may never be that good again in your lifetime.

That will almost certainly not be true for us.  Might be for CT though and some of Mass.  But that feeling fades and you enjoy the next biggie...  5" per hour and 25 total in PD1 in Dover, DE was unreal for me, but then Jan 96 came along.  And lo and behold there was Dec 19-21 2008, and then Jan 12 2011, which was tremendous because we eventually got to a 34" snowpack.   For me an 8 inch storm on top of a 2-3 foot pack is awesome, and while it is snowing hard it feels like a 3 ft storm to me!

They are all great, and we live in a place where there is always another big one coming.  But I do feel a bit depressed.  Will be driving through it today on my way to Logan airport.

Take some advil and post some pics

I have round 2 of heavy heavy shoveling to start.

Side road is completely untouched with 4' piles where people shoveled out their cars and put the snow right into the street. What were they thinking? As soon as a plow finally goes down that road the piles are going to be pushed right back on to their cars. Luckily the main road in front of my house is plowed well, it's just the small 1 lane side roads and our terrace that haven't been touched.  Neighbor said they'll need to bring a back hoe to clear out the side road as it is now there's 2-3' on it.

Yeah...I definitely wasn't referring to us, but I still get the feeling anyways after a week of tracking and losing sleep.

Some cities in CT (Bridgeport, New Haven, Meriden, and Hamden) are going to start having Boston 4/1/97 problems soon. 3 feet of snow (that's 4"+ W.E.) and a nasty crust of ice/hail/graupel in the middle. There's nowhere to put it and there are cars littered all over the roads (and even I-95).

I'd just like to give a shout out and say thank you to everyone (both mets and non-mets) who provided such great info leading up to and throughout the storm.

It was both informative and entertaining.  I rarely turn on the TV anymore to get forecasts for a significant weather event.

Post-storm depression is setting in. Such a high to come off of.

I'm tracking the 2/13 threat (which is bigger for the DC crowd than here) to keep myself occupied and sane. Post-storm depression is the most realistic pyscho-phenom and annoying part about monster storms.

Its is depressing really, Because you know going forward, Any storm we get will be pedestrian after this one

My back hurts more from hunching over the computer on Friday night/Sat morning

lol, I did not see what you ended up with for a total

Per my folks in Hamden, Ryan, they would be happy just to see a plow. Roads are completely impassable. Cumulatively, they saw close to this much snow at the end of Jan '11, but never 40" in one event.   My dad was joking that the house will start to feel like the Overlook Hotel if they're cooped up much longer. Lots of shoveling and roof raking ongoing.

Probably acute medial or lateral epicondylitis golfer/tennis elbow from shoveling.

If it's really killing you a little ice and advil this morning, then start with the heat tonight. I would not shovel anymore if you don't have to.

They seem to be occurring with increasing frequency. Jmho in the next 10 years we will be putting up another top 5. Boston was 125-150 miles on the stall from shattering the #1 this time. We will get the two day blizzard sooner rather than later.

This was I think my 5th or 6th at or over 20". If I still lived back by foxboro it'd be the 3rd in 3 years.

Exceptional events seem to be the normal now. Enormous winds, tidal flooding, hybrids.... We just can't seem to do run of the mill well. It's the long lags in between huge events that make it tough
