If 98 was slightly colder…there were several storms that were close. It did snow up here that winter. Not a ton but lots of storms were a mix up here that winter. 5 degrees colder and 2-3 of those big rainstorms would have been snow. That’s what we have to hope for. 98 the pacific trough was just a bit too far east and overwhelming. 66 was the outlier in the other direction.

I'm watching the lightning in the north sky. I agree that the worst of it is gonna miss to the east.

Newark under their 18th severe storm since June . Every front there’s been has been severe there this summer .

These storms that drop from north to south tend to have very strong winds. Really a close call whether we're gonna get hit here or misses just to the east.

Fortunately, I stuck to relatively safe lower elevations near the lake.

I wonder if the Cfs2 winter 23/24 temp forecast from 9/11/23 was discounted? I guarantee you it was...but it would have been by me! Cfs2 was actually on the right path come early September, 2023.

We are under a warning now for those storms dropping down from the north. It's gonna be a close call here -- I don't know yet if I'm gonna get hit or it misses just a few miles to the east.

I'd say Charlotte and several others getting a foot of snow last year was pretty dang good not to mention having back to back weekends with winter weather which we've not seen in years.

Parts of the region could experience a strong thunderstorm this evening or tonight. Tomorrow through Friday will see temperatures top out mainly in the upper 70s and lower 80s. Showers and thundershowers are possible. Excessive heat with highs in the middle and upper 90s will be just south of the region in such cities as Baltimore and Washington tomorrow and Thursday. A cooler air mass could move into the region for the Labor Day weekend. The ENSO Region 1+2 anomaly was +4.2°C and the Region 3.4 anomaly was +2.6°C for the week centered around August 26. For the past six weeks, the ENSO Region 1+2 anomaly has averaged +3.93°C and the ENSO Region 3.4 anomaly has averaged +2.50°C. The ongoing strong El Niño, which has reached super El Niño threshold, will continue to strengthen through the summer. The SOI was -0.79 yesterday. The preliminary Arctic Oscillation (AO) was +0.320 today.

Hearing some rumbles of thunder from those storms up around Reading. Hoping for at least a breeze down this way!

I personally don't look at it very often, as it's still being tweaked. That said, it's the future, so as it matures, I'll definitely be looking more often.
