MO/KS/AR/OK 2025-2026 Winter Discussion

I think the Canadian was the first one with the I-44 south look and has also had lesser amounts. -
I've been tracking Phoenix's weather for a while now. January 2026 is a lock for a top-10 warmest month, and based on the predicted temps, looking at top 3. (Through 1/22 it's the warmest Jan on record, but current predicted weather seems to knock it down) Since July 2023 that set the record for warmest month in Phoenix history (102.7), 18 of the last 31 months have been in the top 10 of their respective months (New records have been set Feb (2025), June (2024), July (2023), September (2024), October (2024), and December (2024 and 2025).

100%. Glad it made the other positive changes, moved snow totals south and did get wetter.

Approaching Blizzard of 93 coverage, colossal.

Who knows how it’ll play out. But 12z has been pretty consistent in this area. Generally 1.25.-1.50 -
Takes a thousand puzzle pieces to come together to get an ice storm in the valley (esp. Southern valley)
-
After seeing the entire 12z suite I think the issue with the NAM is simply it's weak sauce south of the PA line with the WAA precip. Had the nam looked like EVERYTHING ELSE wrt that it would have been colder.

Will never forget the sleetfest on VD 2007. It poured sleet all night until morning, and shut down the DMA. My family and I departed IAD the morning of the 14th to move to Bangkok. It was rough getting a taxi big enough to carry us from Tysons to IAD, which was closed until late morning. Our flight to Narita on UA was the first flight that took off after IAD opened the first runway. There were thousands of people in the terminal, which overflowed with people standing outside. Was beyond chaotic. -
GEFS actually bumped up a bit.. seems like a general 1 to 1.5 qpf for SNE.. with ratios probably 15 to 1 on average looks like a biggie for all

Only had to wait 4 years for SE MA to reclaim the jackpot capital of the region.

Bless BAMS heart, there is no chance of an inch of ice in Chattanooga proper. Signal might get a half inch if they stay below freezing, but that's clickbait in town. Human should have QC'd it. Obviously it's the Mountain, but seems a bit much even there.

Possible Record Breaking Cold + Snow Sunday 1/25 - Tuesday 1/27

Locally I've seen 1 storm of this forecast magnitude locally since 2019. Interior NNJ missed out on a few coastals in recent years. There have been very very few 6" storms around these parts over the past half decade outside of higher elevations... really hoping we can bring this one home. Weekend daylight snows are the best! -
I need sleep after this week and now this. Unreal. Can we reel this one in. We’ll have snow on the ground until March at this rate
-
I can confirm - rain is developing in south central Texas at this time. Winter storm is a go - I repeat, winter storm is a go - Positive developments underway!

I remember in like 2017 we had a sleet storm. Was like 3” snow and 2.5” sleet. That was wild. Literally saw a car drive backwards over a snow rut in the parking lot from the plow and get stuck like a seesaw. If this ends up being 6” snow and 4.5” sleet like NAM don’t undercount how crazy a weather event that will be. -

All is right in the world now? -
Part of the reason I’m rather bullish on this getting a little colder and not giving a ton of credibility to the NAM runs thermals. For one, an incredibly anomalous airmass. Two, the wave and the LP aren’t that intense to flood the ML’s with a crazy warm nose. I think the cold will fight back here.

Exactly where I want to be 10 days out lol
