  1. Past hour
  2. Low of 48, high of 77. Humidity at 40% made for a very nice day.
  3. Honestly so much bust potential with this though. If the defo band fails to materialize, going to bust hard in many spots.
  4. Let's wait and see how things look tomorrow. Again - we have traditionally (at least since the past few years) kept things mostly contained within this thread. If there is no reduction in the threat level tomorrow afternoon or evening - perhaps we can do a shorter term obs thread/damage report thread. While the potential for a high end event is definitely there - you'd be crazy to assume we are guaranteed a high end event. There are too many failure methods with Mid-Atlantic severe. Would be silly to have a thread that ends up being for a 50-60mph line of gusty storms. We've seen many events look robust at day 2 to fizzle the day of - heck even some day 1 big dog potentials have fizzled.
  5. Vis under a mile now. Wind is shredding the dendrites and already causing minor drifting
  6. I missed you’re call for this event what is it?
  7. I don't know the answer to this, but I have to think the 1/26/78 Superbomb has to be at or near the top of the list. I know Hopkins hit 82 mph and I think there were some 100 mph reports closer to the lakeshore.
  8. Last Feb was actually a better winter month overall for NE IL/SE WI, but for the entire winter I guess you can make the argument that last winter was worse. Not setting the bar very high here though.
  9. Considering the high end potential and anomalous setup I would think this threat alone deserves a thread. It would make it much easier to locate this threat if anyone wanted to read up on it years down the road as I’m sure some of us do for some of our biggest snow storms.
  10. I think some counties may release early on monday? Looks legit and dont think theyd want buses on the roads when that line comes through. Guess we will need to see most likely timing on tomorrow’s model runs. .
  11. What’s your outlook for this event?
  12. Actually, this wasn't good to bring to my attention. It made me look at the forecast for Sun City, and the highs for late next week will be around 105 degrees. It set my anger and depression into overdrive, and if my stubborn wife would have been willing to give it a chance out there, I wouldn't be here suffering this misery.
  13. Hey all. With all the crazy weather I’m sure like you guys. I’m always the ‘weather guy‘. So I decided to create a mini hyper local weather app. This combines: 1. my house tempest weather direct feed 2. hrrr data from gribstream 3. Google pollen api 4. nexrad level 2 5. open meteo aqi and pmi 6. Rainviewer (regional rain and satellite) 7. NOAA spc meso 8. GOES-East from Iowa state https://scarlett-weather.delightfulplant-db525447.eastus2.azurecontainerapps.io this is super beta and was a fun project with Claude code but I thought you guys would like it. I’ll probably put it on a domain sometime soon. It was really meant for my neighbors but would love weather geek feedback.
  14. Doing better here right now—fits the nighttime fluff theme I’ve noticed my first year here. Edit: up to 2.5” storm total so far.
  15. I’ve been saying the same thing for years! It would be a cash cow. Imagine all the adults running out of the house like little kids chasing the truck down the street.
  16. I've had more snow than most on this sub, including a white Christmas. But, another year of just an avg season (fail), and no warning-level storms (fail), and depth never reached dbl-digits (fail). But I did have 99 consecutive days of legit snow cover (I don't count "T" as snow cover days). How do I score this one?
  17. oh great, cloudy and 40 degrees in late March. Pass.
  18. I really love that they went through that explanation. They didn’t pull any punches about it either. .
  19. Welcome aboard! This is the only place to post, dont let anyone tell you otherwise. We are a close group, no a-holes in group. We are a "less is more" place with fewer folks but high quality. You will fit in perfectly. What part of the area you moving to? Stay away from Pats and Ginos btw. Again, welcome!
  20. Beautiful bird. I feel like there’s been a lot of leucistic sitings of various bird species lately.
  21. Or he could’ve driven a little east a few weeks ago
  22. Was great in the Catskills today at Belleayre. The snow is hanging on, but last week was brutal. Another bough of heat and wet like that and more places will be shutting down early. But today it was windy at the Belle and SNOWING! Most of the day had one and off flurries and squalls. The snow was fast but carvable.
