There was several hours on radar that was raining in Berks and NW CT and ORH hills into NE CT/ RI and nothing in between mid - late afternoon. After about 4:00 it started raining back into the valleys . Plain as day on radar loop
-
it was doing the same in the valleys all around.. it wasn't upslope..

Yes this weather is unusually comfortable for the beginning of June now. Too bad we're smoked out. While social media argues about the +/-Bz and Aurora Sunday night, we can just go to bed early. No chance with the smoke anyway. So, enjoy the mild temps and low RH.

At a pool party and everyone is freezing. It’s 62 and windy in June. Not even full sun. Brutal

If you are interested in beach activities sure. But then again swimming would still be freezing even if the air was warm enough to go to the beach. Or maybe you think the breeze is too strong?

We've got some showers moving back in. Wonder if we can get some June flakes up top. 850s are -1C up at 4,500ft. 3,600ft showing 34F on the snowmaking system. BTV going full on snow level discussion for the last time of the season, haha. Upslope showers are lingering along the western slopes but they will gradually diminish during the rest of the night. Snow levels likely range between 3,000 and 4,000 feet, with the lower values over northern New York and the higher values over Vermont. Whiteface at around 3,000 feet is 33 degrees while Mansfield at around 3,000 feet is 37 degrees. Snow levels should drop a bit more as the night goes on. Raw model soundings generally have the freezing levels drop to around 1,000 feet above SLK and 2,500 ft above BTV by morning, but those may be overdoing the cold air slightly. These snow levels will not end up being that significant because profiles continue to dry for the rest of the night so there may not be any precipitation once the coldest air arrives. These snow levels will gradually rise during the day today and they should mostly be above summit levels by evening, and they will stay that way, possibly for the rest of the season.

I agree. Nice for just about anything outdoors except for beaching it. Still warm when the sun pokes out. I know some are hating this but for me it is pleasant out and great day for working outdoors in the yard. With the rain and cool of last 2 weeks my garden is lagging behind.

Periodical Cicadas emerging in Suffolk. Last week I thought I was hearing the normal cicadas which usually emerge deeper into summer, but nope, spotted Brood 14 cicadas in both Port Jefferson and Yaphank today.

Such as LGA, EWR etc. If you got a 10+ day heat wave in the Park today it'd probably be catastrophic because the reality would much worse than that for people within the UHI.

Never mind, it’s my moron neighbors burning shite on a windy day -
I'm sad that today is probably our last refreshing open windows day for a long time.
-
Samesies lol. And I get “crabbier” about colder weather as I get older. But I will say…the temps are a bit nicer than I expected today…was expecting chilly (thank you, June).
-
This weather is horrific
-
I’ll just take whatever today is for the majority of the next 3 months; that is assuming I had any power to control chaotic weather patterns at all, but I digress. Wearing pants and a long sleeve light shirt under partly cloudy skies and a light breeze as I continue to install my new garden. Perfect install weather considering it’s June 1. 62/38 at the moment.

We’re on to June!
-
Just did an hour of yard work in a long sleeve and barely broke a sweat.
-
36.9 this morning with a wind chill of 29. Down right cold on the first day of met summer - kinda neat!

Don’t know if someone in my neighborhood is burning or is that wild fire smoke I smell? -
Please post your June 2025 observations and other current or recent conditions. @jburnsplease pin. TIA

Sounds about right. For now the heat is almost always going to be over the top. WX/PT

Peak heat could be later in Jul - and focus in August but suspect we follow an overall above normal temp wise and likely rain - wise. 90 degree days range id expect EWR / C-NJ , NE-NJ : >30 days NYC: 20 days LGA: >25 days
