Big Heat (and storms?) Week into July 4th Weekend

Intense storm yesterday for northern Anne Arundel. Rain total 1.25.

Power surged twice and somehow made the air conditioner stop turning on. Great!

0.89 from last night is the total so far and is probably similar for PF.  Based on radar, I think they got a lot more down in the southern part of the county.  Forecast has us dry here through tonight and more showers tomorrow.  Other than last night, it has been extremely dry here.

Looks like our house down there dodged a bullet (this time, at least!)

For some reason none of the Cocorahs stations in PF reported today. I usually watch those to keep track, but central Calvert is a data void today. Maybe none of them have power to post- our realtor is in PF and she said she’s been without power since yesterday.

The D3 drought over PF probably saved us too, ironically…

Thanks, I tried that and the power disconnect button too near the unit.

Feels downright pleasant right now compared to yesterday. Turned the AC off at 9 p.m. and the residual cool air means it's still just 80 in the hallway.

last night in Salisbury around 10 pm my house was struck by lightning. i cant find any damage, but it blew a picture off the wall, and there was a very bright flash along the wall about 10 feet where i was sitting. i saw particles burning in the air… true at home fireworks!

The thought that immediately spun in my head was a vehicle hit the house, or bomb had exploded. I started to go outside but huge thick bolts were firing down from the sky to the ground around me… felt very dangerous.

All seems to be well, the big screen tv i was watching is just fine, i see no damage. This was my first time experience, i am 74, but…i heard my Mother and Grandmother tell such stories.

I was out near Hancock yesterday. We had a good one there. Winds had to easily gusted 60+. Tons of cloud to ground lightning too. It is wild to see storms in the mountains when you can see miles away.

I thought the same thing about my pws,but the similar obs in there area definitely lend credence to it being legit. What I don’t understand is I am close to the river (less than 300 yards) not exactly an urban area, lots of big mature trees, and yet still hit 106!  Here is my run over the last 4 days.

Went hiking this morning and came across this guy on one of our trails.  Luckily we left the dog home!  He was very aggressive and rattling nonstop.

12z guidance suggests today we’re too far south and tomorrow too far north.

I’ve seen lots of pinks and purples on QPF maps for awhile and the ground truth has been lacking
