NorthShoreWx
36/31 here with nothing more than a few sprinkles over the past hour. 9" of snow at the stake. How much has it accumulated? We're switched over for the duration down here, but can still live vicariously. Looks like mix line is up near 84 east of the river on dual pol. golfer67
Got pretty heavy for a bit and picked up a very quick inch or so on the colder parts of my driveway and cartops, etc. Eventually started to stick on the road too, was just out, roads are not great. It was pretty amazing watching it snow like that but in many areas it was melting almost as fast as it fell. Anything in an area that would be sunny saw a slushy accumulation up to an inch, while "dark" areas are 1 to almost 2". Early and late season snow patterns are always interesting.

Big Jims Videos
I'm more bothered by backdoor action than late season polar vortex drops. Today is probably in top 5 miserable day of the winter. Looking forward to mist and 48 into May.

gravitylover
How many hours of rain at 30° is ok? It's been steady freezing rain for an hour. Yuck. 1 hour ago, WeatherGeek2025 said: Bryant Pond Road Putnam county! ScreenRecording_03-03-2026 14-43-21_1.mov That's the other side of town from where I am but higher into the Taconics. If, however, blocking develops, then the probability of a multi-week cold period would increase. RU848789
4 hours ago, The 4 Seasons said: yea BDRs Mar 1888 total is totally ridiculous FYI, I was emailing with David Robinson, the NJ State Climatologist about New Brunswick snowfalls and he said that the March 1888 blizzard was 36" (estimated) in NB. Obviously data from that long ago can be a bit iffy, especially with the reported very high winds and drifting, but that's well out of range with what you have for CNJ, like the 21" vs. other much higher reports in NYC. This is one of those storms where a 20-36" swath might be more appropriate.
