Northof78
1.1" from storm here, 30.6" for season (officially above normal), and today marks 1 month of straight snow cover. Not bad...
wthrmn654
I may be wrong but hasn't there been a handful of more snow then forecast events this winter, compared to normal? The delayed winter weather advisory last week, this one doing a bit better, and I think a few others? Rare to have positive busts.

Within the range of most forecasts. However, my now casting skills are horrendous. I saw the precipitation shield last night and thought my area was in for at least 2 inches.

Curious where the discrepancy is coming from though. How much did you measure for December 14 and January 25?

I fully acknowledged that his measurements are more accurate than my estimates. I'm just curious where my estimates were way off, because I'm surprised how low the totals were. We're in the same town and trust Sacrus to be pretty accurate. I suspect it's mostly from the December 14 storm, where there was 8" on my car but appeared to be WAY less than that anywhere on the ground. And, as was the consensus here yesterday, despite that 2.5 I measured this morning, by 2PM there was still less snowcover in my estimation than there was 24 hours prior. it was gone from whatever grassy surfaces it had accumulated on that much, and in had receded beyond where it was yesterday.
