It isn’t N/S, it is E/W, and it is insanely sharp. I popped up to 21 but have fallen back to 18.

Any idea why other than bad luck?  Wind, some sort of frontal passage, lava?

Still 90-95% sleet but my mist of snow is maybe now a mist of drizzle? Temp has dropped back 1-2F. Now 23.

I thought about going back out to shovel more sleet after the game but if it’s freezing mist, I’ll just clean it up tomorrow.

Are you measuring to the individual diameter of a sleet grain?? How are you getting the ten-thousandth place!?! lol

Yeah I’m done for today. We’ll see how hard tomorrow is to move what’s left.

Well, it’s been heavy sleeting here for almost 15 hours. Currently, a different type of sleet with ice on everything building up. 19 degrees and Spotsylvania schools are definitely closed tomorrow and probably the rest of the week.

I usually dread the sleet report, but this one has turned out fun and wild.

Still 28 here in Rockville. That is one crazy temp gradient.

I simply am flabbergasted at this much sleet. If we couldn’t reel in a January 2016 like storm, this is certainly a super memorable one. I can’t see the suburbs being unsnarled til midweek.

theres a drift from the sleet off my roof that’s almost as tall as my CRV at this point!!

Freezing rain here at Braddock Rd and Little River Tpk.

Anyone concerned about losing power?

That was my big fear going into this storm, but I'm only concerned if I see it accreting on trees.  According to LWX, amounts should be light.  Fortunately most of the QPF is done at this stage.
