    I believe it, in Alexandria a couple miles away and thought some trees might come down with the gusts in the first batch. Said to my wife, who I tried to wake up to appreciate it , wow I bet those were at least 60. Reminds you of what the power of even a minimal hurricane is like. just Incredible light show too. Ironically the best one I had this year was visiting my sister in the Netherlands in June. I think it was the most lightning they'd ever recorded.

    Sure it's getting better, but I mean hey people, we got a Purple Alert. That's the Air Quality version of a Tornado or Hurricane Warning. We did it! Something we can all be proud of.

    Ha, or the Kingdome in Seattle back in the day. Was in Seattle in the mid-90s when they had A-Rod, J Buhner, Ken Griffey Jr, and Edgar Martinez and would hit multiple home runs a game. Every time they'd set off fireworks, and the smoke would start settling down with each consecutive homer. By the late innings you were praying for good opponent relief pitching.

    Almost the exact same here in Del Ray. Had a few flashes and a strike within a mile, and what sounded like a positive strike also nearby. Now just need 3 or 4 more of these (we were sitting at under .5 here for the month).

    Yes, but may have something to do with me turning the AC off and opening the windows. That said, I noticed it before turning it off. Imagine has something to do with the indoor and outdoor temperature (at least in my house) being equal, thus the AC not running as often and therefore not dehumidifying at the same level?

    Fair, but if we are talking social media isn't it more likely to be overhyped than under?

    I'd argue the general public doesn't look at SPC at all, and most of them rely almost exclusively on weather apps if they even think about the forecast. A severe thunderstorm/tornado watch/warning day of is where 98% of the public that pays attention will tune in.

    My parents' who are in their mid-80s live less than a mile From the coast in central CT. Heading up there first thing in the AM to "help them" and chase. An act of mercy and self interest. Bringing the DFH 120.

    I'm sure it's been made before, but your sports analogy is brilliant. In '86 growing up in CT I was 15 and watched or listened to every Red Sox game that year, only to watch the ball go through Buckner's legs just like a low up the OH valley or a GL low appearing out of nowhere in the last 36 hours. I still enjoy sports but I don't care anymore and don't follow. I still care a lot about snow.

    I've been around here for 25 years. Agree this kind of cold usually has an expiration date. Usually it's 24-48 hours.

    I would have loved a blizzard this weekend as much as anyone, but I'm also looking out at epic piles and 6 inches of glacier that's only down one inch in the 6 days it's been around. That's remarkable for here. Not everyone cares about pack though, so to each their own.
