I disagree. It’s been a much Different hemispheric look. We have plenty of cold available but can’t seem to get anything more than a “couple” droplets of qpf to slam into it.

Last year was sneaky cold too (compared to recent winters anyway), though not nearly as cold as this one has been. Both winters have featured a dearth of big systems. It’s just been a lot of dryness.

You know a winter blows when an airmass starts being coveted and referred to as a "big dog".

I like all aspects of winter. Cold, snow, ice, even the annual thaw as long as it’s not extended fall. Until winter becomes irredeemable.

We’re not quite there yet in SNE but it’s getting bad to be sure.

What’s sad is that SNE will have less than a few inches of snow this month through Jan 20th.

It’s becoming put up or shut up time. Need to be in striking distance of climo by the end of January since I think we’re probably relying on a February SSW to extend winter chances into March.

If the pattern sets up right and things align correctly, we may not have to worry about melting anything within a few days but we'll have to see what happens moving through the first week of February. A bit more in the way of uncertainty in this respect. At least the incoming cold is setting the stage, now we just have to hope the show delivers.

We had a January thaw, right on cue...but it came and left this disaster, hopefully we can work on it some more before the arctic revisits the area. Makes for taking the dog out at night quite the adventure.

We should start a "county thread".....where they can virtually gather and complete the circle of prostate massage while viewing the pictures.

I legit laughed at this. I love the defense of this winter when pictures of a rural access road in far northern Maine has a foot of snow on it. Like wow, I had no idea, I’m totally sold, this winter rules

I didn't really think it was that big of a deal

I said final few weeks of the month..so then just replace few with couple. It's not like I said it with one full week left to go.

I was just given you shit - I knew what you meant, and actually don't really care other than hopefully succeeding in being an annoying word Karen lol

Nobody is or was defending anything. Man, you are one miserable individual.

Obviously know one knows(hehehe) what will happen for the rest of January. But it looks rather dry. I do know you can’t punt the entire month and still score a decent grade. Vibes dwindling.

Well good thing we have 2.75 weeks left to the month.

Wonder when we start to see fires starting with no qpf thru months end and such cold dry windy conditions. It’s bound to start

Lmao…and if they did(which they won’t), the water would freeze before it hit the fire/ground. Epic disasters incoming.

I wouldn't totally throw in the towel on the 20th yet...it's still a week out and we've seen some swings with the evolution of that shortwave digging in around that period. It's really not that far off from producing something. I would give this another 3 days or so before totally writing it off. And beyond that, with that Arctic front as advertised...there will almost certainly be some significant winter weather produced by that...we just have to hope we end up in the spot. There is no way to definitively lean one way or another right now so all we can do is assess
