This pattern is the worst now that Xmas is over.....you can F right off with the 1/4" every couple of days and cold, windy weather....it's just a giant PIA and am glad it's warming up.

lol I agree. But tenor of the season!

Ray is right, it’s palatable through the holidays, but instantly becomes miserable now.

Give me a shot at some bigger systems, or flood the northeast with warmth.

And yes, before the fangs come out, I know it’s been half decent in CT lol

And many of you sound like you’d push Connecticut into the Atlantic if you could

I mean, I might start pushing if I have to hear how great this winter has been in CT one more time.

We get it, there was a good storm there. Apparently that’s going to play for the rest of the winter

Tenor of the season to Ray’s delight

Just glad that we’re already starting to look at a reshuffle as we move into peak climo. We can’t get close to climo down here with pennies and bounced checks.

We had to listen to you guys all very late Jan, and all of Feb 2015 on how awesome it was…when most of us WOR in CT got boned pretty much every single system.  Oh ya it snowed, but to the tune of 50-65% less with every one of those storms.  So, oh well.

But, I do agree, keep the 1” systems now, had enough.  Let’s get some significant snowstorms going forward.

I think it’s a little different. Yes you guys didn’t get the historic snow, but it was still well above average, I think that sometimes gets lost in the shuffle

A week ago we got to 33F.  That felt sort of nice, despite being an ice storm.

The past 5 days have been below 20F, with a min of -10F during that time.

Not excessively cold, but just a continuation of solidly cold departures with temperatures holding the past couple days in the 0 to 10F range down here in the valley.

Some positive departures would feel nice.  Vehicle batteries would appreciate it.

The point is…it was non stop high fiving out east.  And, It’s all relative bro. Whether you’re talking about 8” here, vs 3-4” out your way like last week.  Or 24-30” out east, vs 8-10” over here in 2015.  To be honest…when it’s historic and you miss(and miss badly)…it’s even worse..way worse.

Jan 29th 2022…30 plus where you were.  7-8” of sand here.  So that gets lost in the shuffle too.   I’d much rather miss out on a 2-4”- 6-8” deal, than historic snows for 6 weeks straight. So don’t go there.

In fact, last Fridays storm on 12/26, that little thing was way better here, than 1/29/22(the blizzard)was here…cuz it snowed way harder, and had great snow growth compared to 1/29/22.

Let’s agree that it would be nice to grab some heftier systems going forward now.

Fwiw ... the 13-15th showed up about 6 cycles ago in the ens as period to watch ... EPS and GEPs, but the recent GEFs have joined in.   Still the case

Ops are detecting this at this point tho so far appear to be favoring the latter range. The period is fluid for now…

Regardless of how other areas are doing relative to normal, the best vibes are in the relative jackpot area compared to normal.

I went out for a short walk during halftime of the amazing game tonight and for 15 minutes it went from light to heavy to now snow which coated everything quickly.  Hopefully a more productive pattern comes after the relatively short reshuffle.

Everyone loves a good snow storm but the ice skating on the local ponds is outstanding right now even with the small layer of snow. I would love a good base of snow for xc skiing locally but give me good consistent cold for ice.
