Not enough to coat but a nice mod snow for a few minutes.  Blustery, roof blizzards and sideways snow squalls.  I like days like today.  Looks like a few more coming from the NW. 20/9

Best squall of the day hitting here now.  I might double my storm total from this morning.

This is a great ob for a mid December afternoon: Snow and blowing snow.  Vis 0.5 miles.  17°.  Winds 23 G 38.

Just an absolutely stunning December day. Imo we're safe from a horrible winter this season and there's the possibility of a fantastic season.

This December hasn’t been too shabby in general, though some were unlucky for their back yards. I tend to agree that a ratter is an extremely unlikely scenario.

You're my early warning detection lol. I got under that band and had over an inch in about 20 minutes and the temp fell to 7. Days like this make all life's problems kinda melt away (no pun intended). Great pic.

I had a feeling this would be an overperformer given the arctic air and trajectory of the clipper and it didn’t disappoint. We’re leaving at 5a tomorrow to get back home and in the office - will be hard to leave. Back for the week on 12/26 through New Years and hopefully more snow then!

I see the Ridgely mesonet is measuring 32" snow depth, you must have just missed out....

The snow depth sensor uses an echo-location ping (think bats/dolphins) to determine the depth. We've noticed that sometimes a big "spike" happens because the ping bounced off a snowflake(s) just below the sensor. This makes the sensor think that the snow top is right beneath the sensor. We have a few ideas of how we might remedy this, but we're pretty sure we're not going to be able to solve it completely. Humans with eyeballs are much more reliable!

FCPS should delay, but they haven't. Will have kids standing at bus stops in 0 wind chill and there's plenty of black ice in my neighborhood.

At any rate, here's a pic of what the totals looked like in SE PA today. Really white-knuckled it with the wind coming back over the Susquehanna on that flat, exposed I-95 bridge.

It's not a possibility. It's in progress! It's upon the Mid Atlantic. Make no mistake about it - Everyone in that sub is going to enjoy an incredible winter!
