I think multiple things can be true. Yes, people might be ready for fall, but I highly doubt they were complaining about having a bunch of warm and sunny days in the mean time. EDIT: Now if it were truly hot/humid weather, then maybe a different story.

madwx
Only down to 36 at the house. Will have another chance at a freeze tonight but then it’ll be at least a week before we make a run at it
IWXwx
It's gonna take a lot more than 0.06" to break the FWA drought.

Brian D
Upper teens n 20's for lows this morning. A crisp AM across my area, n others. Radiational cooling really blew the forecast. Much cooler than cast. Another cold one tomorrow AM with freeze warnings out again. Frost/Freeze adv will probably be done after this as growing season is over here now. Spartman
000 SXUS71 KILN 080538 RERDAY RECORD EVENT REPORT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE WILMINGTON OH 138 AM EDT WED OCT 08 2025 ...RECORD DAILY MAXIMUM RAINFALL SET AT DAYTON OH... A RECORD DAILY MAXIMUM RAINFALL WAS SET AT DAYTON OHIO ON OCTOBER 7. A TOTAL OF 2.45 INCHES OF RAINFALL WAS RECORDED. THIS BREAKS THE OLD RECORD FOR OCT 7 OF 1.72 INCHES...SET IN 1931. $$ HATZOS Biblical soaker, for sure. That much rain in one day during the first days of October, is this a harbinger of what's to come later in the month?

Quite a different picture for our friend in Dayton, where a daily record rainfall of nearly 2 1/2" of rain converted a small annual deficit into a surplus of nearly 2 inches. This was also the 67th most precipitation for any day on record - dating back to the 19th century! It may always be sunny in Philadelphia, but it's always cloudy in Dayton.
