We have entered now —The time of the year when heating bills can stay flat while climo gets a lot colder thanks to the leaves being all down and more direct sun on the house and yard.

Lasts through about turkey day….

when I was 18 I did.. my grandfather was building his new house next to his old one and helped him with it.. he bought two lots right next to each other in 1978 knowing he would build another place at some point. it was a good winter but a dud for up there lol there was also a golf course there right next to his place and you could walk into the USA on the 13th green I think it was but the golf course is now closed and they started building houses on the land.

Did you need to show your passport to putt?

October is typically the best energy month. No AC and heat. November starts using heat.

We call it pellet stove season in our house. We've barely used the gas heat yet. The pellets aren't economical to try to supplement the gas heat midwinter, but they're great for the in between seasons

yeah let's keep these 50s rolling for a while, and at least keep the first half of Nov relatively cheap

I haven’t used the heat yet aside from some space heaters mostly because I just got a new oil tank yesterday and didn’t wanna get oil… But it really hasn’t been too bad other than a few chilly mornings. Another mild fall.

I dunno...  Won't be led along on that one.   Novembers have been hugely variable in reality, not dependably 'the best' in either direction.

I suppose if one's bag is to have that month be excessively variable?  then sure ... it was best for their fetish to have that month be all over the place.   But I've witnessed Novembers range from 80 F to snow storms... both within the same year, or year-to-year.

If you bought a house with climo in mind, as you should have, all your trees shading the southern sky are no longer shading. It’s a huge boost to your home’s temperature.

If the sun is out then heat is off. Overnight of course is when it clicks on but this is also when the thermostat should be turned way down.
