Not surprised a warning got issued..Definitely was a quick 1 to 2+ inches..  lakes in some yards , roadside ditches overflowing... Charlottesville area always seems to be a tstorm hotspot..

Example -   Today's North Wildwood sea temperature is 

76.8°F

 (Which is 4.7°F warmer than normal for this time of year)

I know what you mean. Central Texas in near mid July, lawn looks like early April. Mower still on the Fritz. This place is gonna get so overgrown its gonnabe a jungle and I will change my name on here to JurassicMan.

Just got home from work to a surprisingly nice 0.50 from a tstorm cluster that popped up....

The best year for thunderstorm rainfall here in my backyard in the past few years...

Im beginning to believe that my backyard and yours cannot both do well in the same time period during thunderstorm season... I've already matched June down here so far in July... Most of my June rainfall came in two individual thunderstorms...

Sitting on my front porch can see a nice lightning display and hear some faint thunder from another flash flood warned storm across Afton in  Nelson County near or just east of the Wintergreen area....

Your rain shadow is a tough one for typical east-moving t-storms.  You need a decaying tropical system with NW moving rain bands
