EastCoast NPZ
2.42". If we could get some of that stuff to the south to get up here before sliding west then we'd really have something. That area must be getting water-boarded. 3 1

W to E sucks for you with the mountains but S and SE can be money.
katabatic
What I’ve needed imby for a year - long soaking with 1.75” on the nose today so far. Nothing extreme here at all but cross the divide and shades of Helene. Need a drought buster, not a new crop of roads and schools. 1
dailylurker
The rain shield is expanding and gaining strength. This could get kinda interesting in the mountains. I hear the rain on the roof as I type.

WVclimo
That stuff rotating north through Virginia looks like it’s taking aim on the areas of western MD that are already flooding. If it holds together it’s gonna get very serious there overnight. 1.75” here so far and still raining.

I just spent the better part of 6 hours hiking that part of shannondoah and got out right as it was getting bad, so trust me you don’t want it. I’m sure some of the roads I used are now underwater

Everywhere else is a quarter inch or less. A tenth here. Not confident in the overnight, but the forecast is still for a half to three quarters. I would have downgraded it to a tenth or less except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. Doesn't look like much chance of a more widespread steady rain for this area.

Yeah seems hard to believe it's been that long when you think about it. Since Jan 2024 there's seemingly been this invisible barrier preventing me from breaking 2" of rain during an event. I got close a couple of times with a couple of 1.8"+ events. I got 1.97" from Debby last year. But finally today the two-inch mark has been fully eclipsed.

I will admit that I don't trust it, but there was a pretty clear signal in the 12Z CAMs for heavy rain to break out on the east side of DC and over to the Eastern Shore during the mid evening hours.
