December 16-17, 2020 Winter Storm Obs/Nowcasting

It's snowing a solid clip in Reisterstown. So long as it's not washed away this evening I'll be happy. Snow on Christmas decorations is like double secret bonus snow.

HRRR has snow in Columbia at 3 pm. Curious how that pans out

I do think the line will slow a bit once it touches the ICC across MoCo. Then a slower progression northward from there.

Wonder what happens if the low doesn’t make that goofy NW turn!

I think one things for sure based off that balloon, the surface isn’t going above freezing for us in N MD.

Yes. We are still 29F at the surface way down here.

Good. So long as we don't lose below 925mb, I'm cool. Lets go for a sleet bomb!

Arlington just sent down a truck to spray sand and salt all over The Hill of Doom.

They must be concerned about the freeze forecast for tonight. They normally don't do it for the coating that was on the road.

Best rates of the day so far .

Closing in on 2"

25/24. S+

The best is yet to come for us. I’m betting there will be an hour or two we pick up 2” in that hour. Fronto continues to increase so the rates will be money from 3-5 if we can hold on to all snow.

What do you think we have in Pikesville?. I'm on a dumb conference call and can't go out and measure.

Our deck rails have about 2 in +.  I just measured.
