That drive from about 750’ in downtown Lincoln to the the climb up and above 2-2.8k would be worth the drive if this sits and dumps

Excellent plan!  
Sleepy or not the boy will still have me up early in the morning to do stuff. There are pros and cons to having a nine-year-old when you’re over 50. Mostly pros.

What a beautiful day... full sun and 50s.

RT 108 in the Notch isn't going to be opening any time soon.  We just walked the road from Stowe (you can see some guardrails up there) and it's still snow covered starting at 1,500ft closure gate and just gets deeper as you go up.
