January 12-13th Winter Storm Obs

Recommended Posts

32/16. Low thick clouds. Radar entering Western VA looks appetizing. Good luck to everyone who is going to experience some sort of wintry weather.

I think my wet bulb is around 32.9 right now. What are your thoughts on areas just south of 85 in Greenville county? Don’t see much wiggle room

@Buddy1987 Working at the farm in Stuart today.  Nothing here yet but it sure feels ready!

What’s the temp down that way? Precip is making headway here and should be on my doorstep very shortly.

Correction, just started snowing!  Moderate snow, half dime sized flakes!!  About 34° here at 1400'.

Mix of rain/sleet at 36.  Not looking great for here for much here at the moment

you'll be fine, as usual. none of the models had 950 to 975 temps dropping to freezing until mid to  late this afternoon/early evening when the steadier precip arrives. If you don't get any, then there has been a break down somewhere in the matrix ..as even the old gfs shows you getting below freezing.

Pouring snow here in Stuart.  Not cold enough to stick to anything but metal.  And even that melts after a couple minutes.  Maybe we're going to avoid the ZR after all.  Might be too warm later today!

Edit - scratch that.  Ground rapidly going white.  Mulch almost covered.

Have fun up in Stuart.  I own 18 acres up in northeast Stokes County for an eventual new house once we get the kids grown.  I might drive up tomorrow (if I can) to maybe see a little more than what I’m expecting here.

Here in GSO, I’m at 38 without the first flake.

And unfortunately it ends just as fast.  I can see lighter skies to the west.  Aligns with radar pretty well.

I have 1/2 a dusting if that counts.  We'll see what later brings.

Looks like some more returns trying to form to the SW. Are you in Stuart for the storm or do you live there? I just left from there in that heavy band.
