1/16-1/17 Event OBS

It will be interesting to see what that band does as it moves through the area.  It certainly isn't dying further as it moves east, looks to be intensifying just a little as it passes Greensboro and south of there.

Still rocking and rolling in SE Wake. Nothing like you guys are getting on the west side.  We will wind up with between 4-5” probably.  Hopefully.  In any event, it was a good storm for many.

Congrats to all the folks north and west of me, very nice storm for you all.  I will probably end up with a couple of inches which isn't bad since it did not changeover to snow until 4 PM.

We'll get the next one down here, maybe a good coastal!

Right under 7" avg in the yard on the Forsyth/Guilford county line inbetween Kville-Oak Ridge.   One of the best snows I can remember... had a dusting when I woke up and it snowed the entire day, can't ask for much more than that around here.

clearly you know more about this.

That's not what people have been referencing, though, when they keep talking about this deformation band swinging through.

I'm not entirely sure that backside band is strengthening. It may just be getting closer to the/a radar site. The triad is in a big radar hole. Blacksburg is the closest to my house at a little over 60nm.

Down to 24 degrees and it's still coming down. The back edge of the band is getting close. Looks like that secondary band is staying together and is even filling in some between the first and second. Not expecting much but with high ratios maybe another half inch for some.

I referenced what webb was talking about.

Never thought I would get the chance to say this, but we have racked up 4.5 inches in Fuquay. Starting to hear a few pines pop though...

This is a heavy snow.  Definitely worried about power outages.  Not enough to want it to stop snowing though!
