Must have had a 50mph gust at least. i would say at least 50mph here in bethesda. it felt like a little hurricane for a bit...from a wind and rain standpoint, it was one of the better storms i've seen here. WEATHER53
Was down around Conn Ave and Military Rd to 16th St and it was a mess. Small branches everywhere and a good number of 4-6' limbs and a few 8-10' down. Road was flooded where Miltary goes over Beach Dr, drain clogged. My uncle said he though winds where we were at Buck's Rest. were 40 to maybe 50 but the damage along Military was indicative of 50-60mph.

stormitecture
Damn....couldn't catch the hail core. I wasn't serious about being out, then saw the storm push out and was still in Germantown (failing at getting cg pics). I just wanted to add some hail dents on the Jeep....is that to much to ask Back to editing tornado video from the trip.
EastCoast NPZ
I'm hiding under a tree to stay dry. #badstormtip Don't forget to cover yourself with a large piece of sheet metal before standing under the tallest tree you can find....... #homersimpsonstormtip
EastCoast NPZ
Had .94" in my gauge. Stormed from about 6:10 to 6:40. By far, the best T-storm we've had since May 2011. Really cooled things off, temp dropped almost 20 degrees.
TradeWinds
0.00" in my hood in Frederick. At 3.62" for month and 16.5" for year so no deficits like 2011.
Ian
sunday looks decent again.. the trough orientation is good at least. we'll need some sort of short wave with the larger trough still hanging back. the nam has at least enough to kick some stuff off. Joe Vanni
That cell that went through PG county earlier produced some good winds (which downed some trees and lines) and had hail up to dime sized in Hyattesville.

Just over 3" on the month here, but 2" of that fell on the 1st. Drying up quickly, and the models are pretty dry. Hope we can get some of Ian's convective action over here. mattmfm
Cheverly is littered with trees and power lines, looks that storm was indeed quite a nice downburst.
Herb@MAWS
Saturday morning low 70.7° and 0.06" IMBY in Columbia on Friday. Just enuf to wet down the turning-brown grass and reinvigorate the shrubs. And for first time this season, no lawn to mow this weekend -- and I'm perfectly OK with that. Turn brown and stay brown, grass! I know you'll be back to ''growing and green'' in the Fall. Ian
see texted for tomorrow ...MID-ATLANTIC AND CNTRL APPALACHIANS... A SUBTLE SHORTWAVE TROUGH IS FORECAST TO MOVE ACROSS THE ERN SEABOARD ON SUNDAY. THE MODELS DEVELOP MODERATE INSTABILITY ACROSS THE CAROLINAS EXTENDING NEWD INTO THE DELMARVA. THUNDERSTORMS SHOULD INITIATE IN THE HIGHER TERRAIN OF THE APPALACHIANS AND MOVE SEWD ACROSS ERN PA...MD...CNTRL VA AND WRN NC DURING THE LATE AFTERNOON. FORECAST SOUNDING AT 00Z/MON ALONG THIS CORRIDOR SHOW MLCAPE OF 1500 TO 2000 J/KG WITH ABOUT 30 KT OF DEEP LAYER SHEAR. THIS COMBINED WITH STEEP LOW-LEVEL LAPSE RATES SHOULD BE ENOUGH FOR STRONG GUSTY WINDS ASSOCIATED WITH THE MORE PERSISTENT MULTICELLS.
