Yay. The same weather we've had since November lol. I'm ready for scorched earth, death ray heat. Anything but 50 and cloudy. I'm so over it.

Northern Lights! #4 7:10p: ABC Nightly News just said a few states will have another chance to see them tonight according to NOAA. The include a few Midwestern states including Wisconsin in the Midwest and Upstate New York and Maine in the East. Best time to see: 3a. I will be up then I think, we will have around 50% cloud cover then. Right now we have 29% and it is pretty sunny out. I am figuring I won't see anything later but maybe I could get lucky. Things sure don't look promising but I guess NOAA expects things to change. It seems strange to think how we in Williamsport and other places in PA missed this wonderful phenomenon that so many others in dozens of countries saw on Friday including people less than 75 miles away all because of cloud cover. It just wasn't meant to be, I guess. This what we have to work with right now: Update 7:28p G2 WATCH IN EFFECT FOR MAY 14 published: Monday, May 13, 2024 23:01 UTC Another CME may arrive at Earth and lead to increased geomagnetic activity.

Lightning blasted birch in the intense storm of this past Wednesday, on Springfield College's East Campus. Though a slim tree dwarfed by towering oaks and white pine, it took the strike instead of one of them. -
Sounds perfect!

Tomorrow will be partly sunny and warm with widespread readings in the lower and middle 70s. Some showers are possible. A system will bring periods of rain on Wednesday into Thursday. A general 0.25"-0.75" rainfall appears likely. Afterward, much of the week will likely see temperatures in the 70s. No significant early-season heat is likely through at least the first three weeks of May. The ENSO Region 1+2 anomaly was -0.4°C and the Region 3.4 anomaly was +0.3°C for the week centered around May 8. For the past six weeks, the ENSO Region 1+2 anomaly has averaged -0.08°C and the ENSO Region 3.4 anomaly has averaged +0.73°C. Neutral conditions are now developing. The SOI was +6.30 today. The preliminary Arctic Oscillation (AO) was +1.268 today. Based on sensitivity analysis applied to the latest guidance, there is an implied 58% probability that New York City will have a warmer than normal May (1991-2020 normal). May will likely finish with a mean temperature near 63.8° (0.6° above normal).

I thought it looked familiar, but couldn't put my finger on exactly which species it was. The majesty palm is somewhat cold hardy, but not as much so as a few other species. -

SRQ is one of my favorite airports. It is what MDT should be. Surrounding neighborhood except behind the gates at Ringling, not so much.

Very nice day with most of the smoke gone, but temps only peaking around 60 today. Frost advisory out again across NE MN into N WI. A chilly night on tap.

I think it's been posted before and I regret not bookmarking it. Is there a site for average wind speed by climo site? I'm looking to compare seasonal wind speeds year over year (i.e. was this Spring more/less windy than last Spring?) -

You'll be warmer than him tomorrow most likely ... SW wind has a subtle d-slope aspect to it, no? I figure Concord to Manchester, Lowell/Lawrence, me to Fitchburg and down to metrowest of Boston are gonna cook. Probably 83 and over MOS. As suspected, prior to the s-breeze arrival we bested machine by 1 to 3 deg today. Tomorrow looks like a slam dunk -

The models are clearly struggling on when, where and how much rain will fall at any given time over the next several days. With that said temps looks to range anywhere from the mid to upper 60's to upper 70's thru early next week with no big heat on the horizon just yet.
