  2. Oh ok 499 NWUS51 KLWX 142303 LSRLWX Preliminary Local Storm Report National Weather Service Baltimore MD/Washington DC 703 PM EDT Fri Aug 14 2026 ..TIME... ...EVENT... ...CITY LOCATION... ...LAT.LON... ..DATE... ....MAG.... ..COUNTY LOCATION..ST.. ...SOURCE.... ..REMARKS.. 0541 PM Hail 2 E Charlottesville 38.04N 78.44W 08/14/2026 M2.50 inch Albemarle VA Local Official Also reports of hail damage to vehicles at the same location. && Event Number LWX2608205
  3. This is just more of the same. North side of Charlottesville reports 1.74" last hour. Much of the Charlottesville area has received 8 - 12 inches of rain in the past month while Augusta has received 2 inches. That NBM grid from Will shows much of Augusta receiving 1.50" thru Sunday. That ain't gonna happen. I pray that on Sunday I can say that I was wrong. The NBM has predicted 10 of our 2 inches in the past month.
  4. Hey man hury up...we are going to need those trailers for that move from CT to Texas...
  5. 1601z SAR pass does not show a well-organized system (see attachment). Looks like there are two LLCCs and this large N-S gap of light winds and strong asymmetry. I don't know why NHC keeps saying, "conditions generally favorable." That is vague. Dry air and shear are an issue. CMISS 18z analysis showed 18 kt of westerly shear present. Lala was 50 kt/997mb at 03z and still is 50 kt/997mb at 21z. 2156z recon shows these values unchanged. Models still show an upper-level trough developing over the western Hawaiian Island as Lala gets close to the Big Island, so that is not "favorable" in an overall sense. NHC seems to be hedging higher and using persistence IMHO. One possible factor is that topographic convergence may tighten the wind field along the srn tip of the Big Island as gets close for 64 kt winds, but that's a local mesoscale factor not directly related to actual intensification of the TC synoptically. Topographic influences for winds are to be discarded for assigning actual TC intensity AFAIK. It is similar to discarding mesoscale higher winds from intense pulsing convection when shear is present for the TC (Bertha had this big time) or a transient mesovort in the eye. Still a significant impact on Hawaii, not downplaying that, just talking above about the finer details of meteorological analysis, which I hope some find informative.
  6. Just have to laugh this off at this point . This shit happens to happen sometimes until it stops happening
  7. 89 yesterday 88 today
  8. I agree. 1972-73, 1982-83, and 2015-16 had 1 or more days with measurable snowfall in Athens.
  9. These are big claims, don't see why not though TBH.
  10. Temperatures will top out in the lower to perhaps middle 80s in a few warm spots to start the weekend. Clouds will increase on Sunday holding the temperature to the upper 70s or lower 80s. Showers and thundershowers are likely Sunday night into Monday. A few locations could see heavy downpours. Following the frontal passage, Monday through Wednesday should feature temperatures in the lower 80s, along wth partly to mostly sunny skies. The ENSO Region 1+2 anomaly was +4.1°C and the Region 3.4 anomaly was +2.6°C for the week centered around August 6. For the past six weeks, the ENSO Region 1+2 anomaly has averaged +3.72°C and the ENSO Region 3.4 anomaly has averaged +2.15°C. The ongoing strong El Niño, which has reached super El Niño threshold, will continue to strengthen through the summer. The SOI was -22.03 today. The preliminary Arctic Oscillation (AO) was -0.810 today. Based on sensitivity analysis applied to the latest guidance, there is an implied near 56% probability that New York City will have a warmer than normal August (1991-2020 normal). August will likely finish with a mean temperature near 76.5° (0.4° above normal). Supplemental Information: The projected mean would be 1.3° above the 1981-2010 normal monthly value.
  11. Just wait until they leave the house to get married.
  12. I’m in the middle of tobacco harvest and the drizzle was enough of a concern for “trailers” that were loaded and outside getting wet that we had to bring them all inside and work around them. Rain sucks when you’re doing massive harvest of anything.
  13. Charlottesville to north of town just absolutely got socked over - one of the more powerful storms that I've seen in some time even for over here... And not even a sprinkle in my yard again - just saw more water in a hour than my yard has seen in 2 months - simply wild..
  14. Brief shower popped as boundaries collided. Lasted about 5 min but came down in large drops
  15. Those people living atop Pigeon Hills will be having a banner winter I'm sure. Problem is they don't get great plowing up there, and when they do, there's only a lane and a half cleared. At least, that's been my experience when I've gone up there checking snowfall amounts. But PSU should do equally as well.
  16. Ya got me on the time zone in the other thread, but I’m confused on this one.
  17. Straight-line Downburst Winds Confirmed in Southern Connecticut. Public Information Statement National Weather Service New York NY 337 PM EDT Fri Aug 14 2026 ... 18. Not sure about there but it’s starting to get dry here again . Lawns beginning to show it in sunny spots . 1.87” MTD and most of that was on Aug 3rd . You may have had a storm or downpours that missed here
  19. Gonna be lots of weenies on suicide watch after this winter
  20. I wouldn’t say PSU. It was a failure of coaching, specifically the lack of the ability to match his abilities to the scheme.
