  1. Past hour
  2. Oh, man, I love classical but I only recognize the greats and would have no idea who to recommend to someone with the handle maestro. I just ask Alexa to put on an Apple Music playlist. I also love 40's jazz and crooners.
  3. WxBell at 180 - I’m not smart enough for 500mb but it’s burying it in the gulf so don’t think the ICON wants in this go.
  4. Look at national radar. You can see it beginning to come together.
  5. GFS at 150 starting to revvvv it's engine
  6. At 12z it was riding the Tennessee/Kentucky border. At 0z it shows 1.5 inches down to Knoxville. It's the planned replacement model for the NAM and HRRR.
  7. Ah classical Christmas music? Awesome Who do you listen to? Always looking for things to add to the playlist for next year
  8. RAP 3z is an absolute crusher at this range, but it's still beyond where we can really use it. Tomorrow it'll probably come into line with the other guidance.
  9. Hoping the models are underplaying the cold push, but likely not
  10. If anybody has some insight: 1. Will we be fighting virga with this storm ? Or will one strong band fix that immediately 2. Would this be impressive if the GFS actually verifies and we get exactly as it has shown ? This is quite a few runs now that are the same and have not budged at all
  11. I’ll say this. The GFS is going down with the ship that the low stays south.
  12. I was thinking 10-12” before, but 7 to 8 may be more likely now.
  13. Currently 5 degrees and pretty windy. Just stepped out for a minute and it is freaking cold.
  14. Haha, so true! I swear there are times when my daughter could get sassy over the years and I'd let it go but at the same time think to myself, "I'd NEVER be able to say that to MY parents...and get away with it!!" LOL!! Ahhh, but the time does fly and she was a good kid (still a kid to me even at age 22!). Mine just graduated college this past May (U MD) and I swear it feels like yesterday that she was just starting high school, or even middle school! I find myself getting really sentimental at times!
  15. I do a ton of Christmas decorating so I leave it up longer than most. So with the storm coming, I've been getting my morning coffee, firing up the laptop for tracking, lighting the tree and village, running the train, and listening to classical Christmas music. It's been a great week.
  16. I know that we have several threads going now, and mods, if this doesn't work I won't be offended if you take it down, but we have multiple blasts of Arctic air that will produce a long duration cold snap for much of the U.S., including New England. The first burst is happening as I write in advance of our major winter storm, and models continue to show a significant period post storm of frigid lows and very cold daytime highs. Looking specifically at CT, while we have certainly been colder, some of the ensemble progs put us in territory of some of our longer below freezing cold snaps. I think the Tuesday through Thursday right after the departure of our storm may over perform with possible radiational cooling and a fresh snowpack. I am not saying the numbers below will verify exactly, but I wanted to break this out from the January tracking thread and winter storm thread because I think the anomalous cold is the foundation for the wx we're seeing in the coming week or so and worthy of dedicated discussion. Let loose the Arctic hounds.
