2026 Spring/Summer Mountain Thread

Perfect setup with a dying tropical system and a stalled boundary. Looks like I picked up over 2 inches since 7 PM last night. I'll dump my rain gauge at 7 for a good reading. -

3.83 and still raining here. Wow! Been back and forth to Huntersville a few times from Hickory today (buying a car), and there have been several torrential downpours. Crazy stuff!

That sucks! Good luck.

Most Senators were alive during the 1974 year-round DST disaster that was thus quickly reversed. And can you imagine not getting the Euro til 2AM during the crucial winter season?

No wonder your reindeer can fly. As always …..

Damn, DEN is at .70" for the month. .92" in my backyard.

Picked up .35" here with a nice but fairly brief deluge in the afternoon. Getting some light showers now.

Yeah, it's the same thing every year. No different than later January and especially by the magical February 10th. you can really feel winter winding down at that point. At least concerning SNE - sure it gets cold again here and there, okay it snows - but it's just not the same. And the snow melts soo quickly you can rarely even enjoy it

Central PA Summer 2026 Discussion/Obs Thread
TheDreamTraveler replied to Voyager's topic in Upstate New York/Pennsylvania
So is there an exact reason why weather forecasting has been so inaccurate the past year or two? High today was supposed to be 79 and it's already up to 83. This has been happening a lot more lately not just with temps but inaccurate predictions when it comes to rain and storms as well. -
Nothing beats 40s, clouds, wind, and spending 5 days tracking a snowstorm where you can see the back edge of the precip or the sleet line moving north before the storm even begins.
-
Yeah it’s snowpack or nothing for them as my understanding goes too. I was strictly referring to the fire situation.

Spring/Summer 2026 Pattern Discussion Thread

Wow you've been hosed @dwagner88 we have done pretty well since June IMBY. I remember you moved though. Post frontal in Chattanooga feels so wonderful! Still dew 70+ but it's cloudy with a north breeze. Staying cloudy post frontal feels great in summer. Could be a preview of El Nino though. For now, focus on the good today. And think of football season! -
2026-2027 Super El Nino
EasternLI replied to Stormchaserchuck1's topic in Weather Forecasting and Discussion
Yes. Really a lot going on in this map, but man what a great plot. Those are the components of the H200 wave trains just like you're thinking. Also VP 200 anomalies in shading. Wave activity flux arrows. Plus the waveguides are the indigo bands. Sort of feels like we're looking at some of what's been discussed in here too. Namely, el nino taking command of the tropics with more of a -pdo flavor hanging on in the North Pacific for now. I'm really curious to watch how the north pacific evolves throughout this powerhouse event. It's an interesting case all around.
