November 2025 general discussions and probable topic derailings ...

His memory is completely shot. I pointed out the events since his isais post…there have been some decent to very good events. But this past year has been boring for sure. Past performance doesn’t indictate future performance…he should know this. But he feels the need to be dramatic. -
65 in the p&c for saturday, hyped

In the past, you know there were also times of narrow short lived record breaking cold too right? You bring up an extreme examples every single time like that was normal, which it wasn't, even then. Rarely is there long lasting cold in early-mid November in any year.

It’s crazy, the mountains didn’t seem to get into the mid-level banding as much. I had 3” in my yard and 2” at all elevations of the mountain. Everyone showed up from BTV and valley to skin and ski and found 2-3” of wind-blown snow on dirt up to about 2,500ft at Stowe. Parking lot was full. Which still surprises me people get caught off guard with so many live cams. Heard it was similar at Jay Peak and their web cams seemed to look like Stowe’s mower half trails… just 2-3 inches of wind-swept on top of dirt. While the Champlain Valley is caked.. Even Smuggs looked a bit better on west side but maybe 3-4” instead of 2-3”. Maybe Bolton got lit up a bit better?

It must be an extra good day when your perspective is sunnier than mine, lol I'm just tired of seeing people in the south get snow and remaining in the screw zone in my area. It's gotta break one of these days

There’s never any reason to believe anything will change, until it does. There are signs…if you choose to ignore, that’s fine. You sound So silly. -

Picked up 2.25” in Northern Macon County with a low of 19 this morning. A nice surprise to start winter in early November. -
Went to Blackwater Falls this morning. Just so damn beautiful. When people talk about their happy place, this is mine.

Ah I remember those days going past the bus stop and seeing all the boys in shorts with bone chilling wind and temps. That being said, what a rude morning. Am still doing farm chores and it took an hour to clean 2 stalls and feed. Mind you it was all on the West side of Furnace Mountain. Knew I was in for it when I turned the car on this morning and after it registered the actual outside temp it warned me to watch for ice on the roadways.

I absolutely agree with this. Same for LA and FL getting 10"+ and a 4 degree low soon after. I'm not at all worried about losing the big ones. Just that they might be spaced out in larger intervals instead of every 3-7 years between 1979 and 2016.

Missed the 2/6/10 event on LI by about 40 miles. That was a brutal one. Other than that agreed-09-10 was another good season here. Usually the big Nino winters can produce up to the NYC area when we have some cold with the huge Nino driven storms. 23-24 just had no cold like 97-98 and 72-73 so it sucked.

have a few flakes falling first of the season unless I missed any last night. -
Matching the recent pattern of more narrowly focused Arctic outbreaks into smaller geographic regions than we used to get. The November 1976 Arctic outbreak was a longer lasting one and covered much of the East with record cold. Reminds me a bit of the Great Lakes record cold in January 2019 which was short-lived and didn’t extend to the East with its most impressive cold. Also the February 2021 Arctic outbreak which stayed in the Plains.

Commodity Wx Group @commoditywx Models debating speed of -EPO arrival with American fastest and European slowest; both have exhibited competitive skill in past 30 days, but AIFS ensemble middle ground may be best answer.

2025-2026 ENSO

12/19/2009 to 2/10/2010 is the only one that really rivals 10-11. I highly doubt we're ever going to have a stretch with so much snow in very little time like those two winters. If we're going to have a high snow season, it will be more sustained throughout the season, like 2013-14 or 2014-15.
