To me it’s like saying your temperature is 35F on a night the station says 45F… but saying “well if the trees weren’t there and it was open to the sky above, I’d have radiated more.” Do you live 100 feet up above the canopy? We don’t like that and want to sample the free air above treetop exposed wind because it’s more sexy. The one part of it I can square is that the force that would cause tree damage is the wind at canopy top level. Like knowing what wind speed at that 80-100 foot level above ground starts tree damage would be important. It’s sort of like tarmac temps/winds vs wooded area temps/winds.
