Torch Tiger
The column quickly warms Tuesday and stays that way through middle of next week as an expansive upper-level ridge builds over the central CONUS. Aloft, 850 mb temperatures soar to +15-18C. Unsurprisingly, dry conditions are likely through much of next week as surface high pressure builds overhead. Bigger story will be the increasing heat starting Tuesday through much of the upcoming week. Ensemble guidance shows somewhat impressively high probabilities for high temps >90F with values between 50 and 60% in the CT and Merrimack River Valleys Tues-Fri.

Bloody arms and legs, from killing them as they bite. They are insufferable once you get into the woods and especially at elevation. Eventually they will die off, and then it will be deer/horse flies as the culprit. 1 1

But I was over in Sterling at Meadow Brook, basically a 1000 acres of orchards, open fields, with woody glades doing disc golf last weekend and there wasn't one. Then I was over at Qual Ridge in Acton doing a regular golf there and again...none. Why is massachusett special Very few skeeters here so far. We also had very few black flies during their typical peak (early to mid May). Lots and lots of hornets and wasps though. circle of life?
