Winds gusting above 30 mph here with that severe cell moving to my north.  That and the overcast are knocking down the heat.

Thus far, the best cell of the day appears to be running just north of Mason-Dixon into PA. Consistent CG, tops sustained about 35,000 feet, and now some damage reports coming out as LSRs via CTP.

Latest SPC mesoanalysis has an axis of ~2,500 SBCAPE in southern PA. Wonder if the southern edge of that enhanced CAPE might act as a boundary for the northern and western crew later?

All we really need to know are the parameters of the orbit of Jupiter anyhow.  JB's already on the case.

Looks like the Greencastle storm died, threw an outflow boundary south into Maryland, and it's about to crest the Catoctin Mts. Wonder if that's what kicks off the activity in the lee of the mountains and northwest suburbs this afternoon?

With the 1:54 7 day Update, the WPC is buying into the 7 day prog. from the GFS and tossing the ECMWF and AI.

Anywho, low level lapse rates are past 9 degrees C/km so we’re approaching unconditionally unstable with 2000+ Cape and 1300 DCape. I’d imagine things pop off quickly near DC once outflow boundaries reach us

Outflow boundary hit the cells near Charles Town. Things really popping off quickly in the pan handle.
