sbnwx85
It’s been snowing off and on all day but only about a half inch on the ground.
McHenrySnow
Had really hoped it'd stay cloudier today than it has been. Sun angle is bad enough even with the clouds. Temps several degrees above forecast.
Geoboy645
Looks like we ended up somewhere in the 10" range here. Very hard to tell exactly how much because of the drifting though. Sun is starting to peek through here, although we still have several hours of blowing snow to go before it finally calms down. Will be interesting to see how long this snowpack lasts both around here and in the extreme totals up north. With 3/25/23 it took about 5 days to melt everything but the largest piles. But that was a bit later in the year and a wetter snow with some rain as well on top of it. We are supposed to hit the 50s by Friday, but we will see how much the snowpack reinforces the cold air even with March sunlight. Crazy to think that this is about the same amount of sunlight that we had when were in the upper 80s in late September last year. All in all, a very memorable storm for the state of Wisconsin and one that will be talked about for a while like the 2018 storm. 2

weatherbo
Snow and wind have let up considerably with another 5-6" possible through the night. Snow is too deep to walk or even snowshoe in, there's no power, and the road is closed for miles. Deepest snow I have ever seen. The house is almost buried. 19

MQT received 33.7" (LE- 3.79"). Probably nearing 40" out this way. Good to see you were spared the ice!

Depth between 60-70". Another foot possible. The snow has bridged to the roof. Wow!!! that's some amazing stuff right there. Good to hear from you. I was concerned, since you've been AWOL here all winter.

Yes missed the ice by about 20 miles, although did get about 10" of sleet, never plowed such heavy stuff in my life. Def over winter, was down to about 12" OTG before this started was finally able to see my roof again now looks like mid January. Ready for spring break in 2 weeks then will be in southern carribean.
laferri2
This was at 11:30 this AM in Williamsburg, just outside of Traverse City. We had clear ground on Thursday morning. We've added another four inches since then and looking at maybe 6 more by the AM. Went out to snowblow and had to abandon it halfway through since I couldn't see through the snow. Had a fresh inch on the ground I had already done. Biggest snowstorm I have ever seen in my life.

Woth xmacis, you can see a locations avg 1+, 3+, 6+ etc. This winter DTW had 21 days of depth 6"+ APX has chosen 6" as the min depth to tally-up on their snow page. They don't break it down lower. Most including West Branch already have more than a typical season total. Hope this explains.
RogueWaves
Just got the backside winds (50+ gusts) and squalls plus 1.5" of lake stuff that fell today. Could barely see across the street. Less than a week ago I was swinging my clubs in short sleeves. Since then 9.5" of snow and at least 0.25" of ice with some short-term bliz conditions for good measure. Happy MET spring!

RogueWaves
Last March it was more N Central and NEMI (NWMI was spared). This time its a coast-to-coast battle zone of ice that I will be commuting thru in the morning. Latest map (7 pm)
cutlew
So much snow in my hometown in WI they’re using this loader and a huge John Deere tractor with a silage blade to clear out. Roads impassable for regular snowplows.

I have an aunt, who has passed now, who grew up in the UP. When she was young, they would get storms sometimes that looked just like that when it was over. Crawling out the 2nd story window to get out. LOL! The principal would sometimes look out the window out over the Lake, and if it was getting real dark out there, he would shutdown the school, and send them home. Old school way of doing things.

I'm usually pretty close to Herman's totals and they stand at 341" as of today but there were a few times this winter they were hit a bit harder than me. Measuring snow here is damn near a fulltime job and I just don't care as much as I use to. However, from Friday through last night I've received an estimated 55" while MQT officially stands at 48.1" during the same time, with a season total of 262.7". Today starts the cleanup. There's 4-5' drifts of wind-packed snow across the entire driveway this morning and while I do have a Kubota tractor, this is still going to take some time. Will try to post a few more pics today.
