Doesnt surprise me. There was an event earlier in Jan where we had around an inch in the morning right down to the shore and BDR reported T.

We're up to 26 events of 0.1" to 3", totaling 23.5" (assumes 1.0" today).  The other 5 events totaled 45.4".

Edit:  Snow is done, only 0.8" so the 26 midgets total only 23.3".
That 0.8" had just 0.02" LE, for 40:1 ratio.  The final "flakes" included 6-pointed disks, shaped kind of like a starfish.

As good as it gets ever….as far as it being consistently cold, and not having any big rain outs, and the very consistent snow-cover.  
 

Sure there’s been seasons with more snow(93-94, 95-96, 02-03, 10-11, 14-15) etc…but this has been excellent, and we missed some bigger opportunities too.  If we had cashed in on those, it would surely be top Tier.   If March can give us a good one…the grade goes up again.

63” on the season would be awesome to get to 80”+.. I believe only 1996 and 2013 did that and they both had 30”+ edit maybe 2011 too? Will check the website later

The rapid increase in intensity as it moved into far western CT was the real issue.  It was tied to a strong 850 / 700 mb warm advection process. It showed up on the spc meso analysis page, but there was low confidence it would materialize.  Instead of getting 2+ inches in 5 hours we got it in an hour and a half to 2 hours.  That's why I thought the best play for schools was long delay with reassessment as it showed itself more clearly.  We get one of these snow ramp ups during the drive period once a winter.

Here come the apologies and excuses. These are hard calls to be sure. Leadership is taking responsibility and not scapegoating imo.

Complete disaster here this AM!    Strange that ours said "we though the heaviest snow would be after all students were at school"   Strange, didn't see any forecast or model with the heaviest here after 9am.

That’s BS if they seeked a professional forecast they would have know they snow was forecast to be 5:30-9:30 statewide

I was out on the road and it was coming down hard for a few hours. Conditions were awful and the plows couldn’t keep up even on highways. I don’t know if they actually even salted the roads because that’s supposed to prevent these situations.

Ended up with an inch, maybe a little more.

Great Point WIll!  

I had 11 in 2017-2018, and 16 in 2014-2015.    

Got 10 So Far this year.  1.25" Today of Perfect Snow to cover the piles.
