With heating oil now up to $4.55/gallon through the company we use, as much as I love snow, I am very much ok if winter dies a quick sudden death.

I'm glad I filled the tank the Friday before the blizzard.  Up to $4.39 a gallon here.

gas prices are next.....so essentially every single thing we need to function is skyrocketing in price, cool...

I had oil. It was insanely expensive during the winter.

They already started, but are already starting to stabilize. I doubt this lasts very long...IMO Glad I have Natural Gas, and Westfield Gas and Electric... screw eversource

Would be nice to agree, but oil prices are spiking to near $80 per barrel as we speak, short term might be 6 months at this rate. I don't see how they don't keep rising

I understand. I just don't see how they sustain the situation that's causing this. Not trying to be political, and somewhat parroting a couple neighbors who are very "in the know" Lets hope! They're thinking a month or two +/-

I usually keep a tank of oil and just use my wood stove for the winter, but just used up my stack of wood today....I have a local guy delivering a half cord, hopefully to get me through the rest of March, assuming his claim that it has been seasoned for at least a year is correct. Otherwise I will be tapping into my oil reserves, lol

We have a pellet stove. The first two Winters we tried to use it season long to supplement the gas heat. We found it saves absolutely no money, and actually cost more. What it is good for is marginal days when we can shut off the gas and just keep the first floor living room area warm. It saves a lot in the in between seasons. I just picked up another half ton a couple days ago

I installed a natural gas fireplace insert about 10 years ago.  At the time, I was looking to install a wood burning insert (or pellet insert).  Looking at the cost of the various fuel sources at that time on a BTU output into the building basis, what I learned was that pellets AND purchased cordwood are just as expensive as natural gas as a fuel source for a fireplace insert.  The only fuel source less costly is free (or nearly free) cordwood that comes from you property or that you can scrounge.

Most definitely. The pellet stove was installed by them prior owners of our house about 6 months before we bought it, otherwise I never would have installed one personally. At some point I would love to switch over to a gas insert. I hate having to dick around with the pellets, and constantly clean the thing out

Gfs aifs is a big torch tue and wed. Ec aifs is well into the 60s both days. Gfs is obviously struggling to get the warmth in there. Ec is warm both days but is a late warm fropa wed, Ggem is warm tue but wedges up here wed. Icon is similar.

I think AIs are overdone…just gotta see how how much oomph the potential wedge has Wed.

Robots seem to have a warm lean in my opinion. Early next week should be a good test to the theory(maybe they score one).

I also have a pellet stove.  I estimate I save about 1,200 per year but pellet prices have been going up over the past decade cutting into savings.  When I got the stove, I was paying $4 for oil and paying half of what I am now paying for pellets.  Money mattered at the time but not anymore.  Still saving some money, but it's not the point.  My wife is spoiled by that thing since there is always a 90 degree room in the house.  6 tons this winter averaging 360 per ton, about a ton per month plus or minus, 75+ tons since I got the thing.  I'd be happy to burn oil and not have to tinker and haul pellets all the time.
