Been sitting in a nice weenie band here in the UWS for nearly an hour, CPK may just get to 20 or even higher at this rate

Haven't been outside yet, but based on the 15.1" at 7 AM and the radar and forecasts for this to go to 1 PM, we should be able to make it.

As of 8:00 am, we're up to about 19.8", as we got 3.5" the last 2 hours, which is the best 2-hr snowfall rate of the storm (1.75" per hr). I say about because that's an educated guess at best with so much drifting. Love looking at heavy snow on furniture and trees, so here's a cool pic - that table has about 18" on it but definitely lost some due to the wind. Still 29F and the winds have relaxed a bit, only gusting to about 20-25 mph. Someone else in Metuchen reported 17.7" around 6 am when I had 16.3", so I'm guessing they have about 21" by now. Incredible storm.

19.4 here..20 inches in the next 30 mins. Extremely heavy snow falling rn. Looks like we snow at this rate for a while also. The radar looks great.

great pics and after a lull here early it started ripping again; we seem to be right on the edge of some of those crazy bands. i have miniature poodles and i cannot let them out; they behaved totally unacceptable last night and one didn't want to come in. i have to dig a spot for them; imagine a species that gets you to feed them, clean their droppings, and clear out snow for them to relieve themselves; who exactly is the master here?

There have now been 22 storms with more than 15 inches in NYC. If you want a 15 inch plus storm in NYC, February is still the month.

No. Pct of total 15 + inch snows
0 0.0% November
5 22.7% December
4 18.2% January
11 50.0% February
2 9.1% March
0 0.0% April

22 100.0% Total

Thanks.  I figured February would be king, but for December to be ahead of January surprised me.

dtwxrisk was in youtube chat again last night arguing with joe cioffi and joe rao he will never apologize for being wrong about the gfs..

The GFS was king here-had it for a week and never wavered outside of a blip run right before the storm.

NYC will go over 50" and have a below normal temp wise winter by several degrees.  So much for that VEI 7 volcano huh @bluewave?  Time to re-evaluate your dumb hypothesis, or tell a few walls that might care.

I jokingly said to Allsnow a few years back that it would take a volcanic eruption for Central Park to measure 50”. I thought it would be a challenge before this winter began but I never speak in absolutes or use terms like impossible.

We’ll see where they land after today as they came in this event with 22.3” on the season. Also never said it was impossible to have another colder winter just that it was a struggle over the last decade with how warm it was.

I am very happy with how this winter has turned out as we really needed a good one after the long string of disappointing winters. You seem like a very angry person from reading many of your posts.

These photos are impressive to the east; thanks for posting. Looks like you’ll double-up+ my area.

We knew this was a distinct possibility. Exactly what I anticipated happened. Should still wind up with 12-13” so a very nice storm and amazing to see what it’s doing to the east
