nw baltimore wx
Sorry about the shovel @Maestrobjwa, but in a way, it is kind of ironic. Maybe they’ve been reading the forum for a few years, and you convinced them that you don’t get snow and won’t need it.

They notoriously close at the slightest thing and with all of the metling, refreezing, and locked in cars with the extreme sleet, I could have sworn this would be protracted. But I guess the low snow total might make it more manageable. Revising my estimate. If trends continue I bet we go all week without school. This sleet and thick ice is going to mess things up to the extreme.

And the thing I that IS the shovel I purchased for the 2016 blizzard! Sentimental steal as well I had the same thing happen to me during the 2009-10 epic winter, at my apartment at the time in Silver Spring! It was for the Feb. 5-6 event in fact. Was clearing off and digging out my car in the space I had it parked. Took a short break to go inside and left the shovel in the snow right next to the car. Came back and...GONE! F*ing F**ckers!!! Fortunately I was able to borrow another one from someone and finish the shoveling.

Guessing we end up with 6-8 inches countywide of snow and 2-4" of sleet. Single digit and teens lows for the rest of the week, and glaciated ice piles everywhere. When do you think MCPS reopens? We are going to be grilling out in the elements. Have some Amish market fresh ground beef, all the fixins, brioche buns, corn, chips and homemade salsa, potato chips and dip, and two different kinds of desserts. Football on the TV and a fire in the fire place. It’s a great day

Reminds me of the Feb. 14, 2015 Arctic front event that dropped a quick 2" blustery snow (and then turned bitter cold), when @Bob Chill said he was out in his garage grilling during those squalls!!! I believe he said that was actually one of his favorite "minor" events; I feel the same about that one! As for me...doing the traditional chicken soup over egg noodles. Got one of those pre-cooked chickens from the deli to cut up, plus some carrots, celery, onion...yummmm!

Cooked steaks a few times in the cold and snow. It was fantastic. Grill keeps you warm!! Great choice on the meal. Love chicken noodle soup on cold days. Hits different.

It’s a great day growing up in CT we always shoveled a path to the grill after every snowstorm and my dad set up an umbrella somehow so he could grill while it was snowing.

Hank Scorpio
Made it home from the hospital! I was hoping we'd get out of there while it was still snowing, but by the time we got all the paperwork done and the baby in the car, it'd been sleeting for quite a while. Thankfully roads were fine, just snow and sleet packed. Hardest part of the drive was getting up our unshoveled driveway. Speaking of, I'm not too excited about going out to shovel that. Might just wait until tomorrow to get working on it and just relax the rest of today.
