Forecast low was 15 it's now 10. 
Cloud cover expected around midnight. I would expect temperatures to level off or rise after that.

This is a bucket list item for me.

We live 200-250 miles from the greatest lake effect area anywhere and I still haven't been up there to experience one of the classics.

This one is gaining juice as it hits the coast tho. The radar looks great rn. The upper air disturbance is currently west of dc moving east towards the ocean.

Well the GEFS the last 2-3 runs is really moving towards the GEPS/EPS in the D8-10 period ejecting the trof/building the ridge out near the west coast.

Yeah.  Maybe what fell at first for me was melting before the temperature dropped.   Per KFRG's hourly temps, and from what I've gathered here about the timing, looks like the temps were just above freezing for hours before the event, was about 35 at the outset and 28 by the time it ended.

Read Mt. Holly's AFD AFD from KPHI - and the 0Z GFS is hinting at the Northern disturbance possibly connecting with the LP to the south if the trough sharpens more some parts of the area could see some snow. It just seems to want to snow this season - its snowing here now and there was only a 20 % chance - ground is covered again along with cars

21⁰ with light snow in Smithtown at 2am.

Temp had been down to 16⁰ earlier.

Got down to 16, then came up to 22 and is now snowing!

Awesome winter day with that squall this morning. Never got warmer than 27 after that. 

Frankly this might be my favorite winter day in a long time, monster storm not required.

Your average January monthly max since 2009 has been 56°. So that is 4° cooler than Newark. The equivalent for you not reaching 50° in January at Newark is under 46°. The last time your area didn't make it to 46° in January was also 2009  when Montgomery only topped out at 43°.
