ChescoWx
It looks like all stations across the area remained in the single digits above zero with Warwick Twp. our normal cold spot at 2.0 above and of note here in East Nantmeal our low this AM was 3.3 above - this is my coldest reading here since the 3.0 degrees last January 22nd. Today and tonight looks to be a couple of degrees colder than yesterday. We stay in the teens for highs both today and tomorrow before we finally crack the 20-degree mark on Sunday. We see a slight moderating trend through the middle of next week with highs possibly approaching 30 degrees by Tuesday. We could see some snow chances by next Wednesday into Wednesday night. We may turn even colder again by next weekend. The long-range models continue to think while we might get close for a couple of days....they have no days reaching the 32-degree mark through at least mid-February! mahantango#1
Nice to start seeing the sun at 8:31am instead of 9:12am at my place. Glad to see the days are getting longer.
Mount Joy Snowman
Low of 5. It looks like the core of the cold and/or best radiational cooling stayed out west last night. I think we bottom out tonight out this way. Loving the staying power of this pack, has barely budged an inch. Talk of snow mid next week exciting as well. Onward.
Itstrainingtime
Did a little quick research on low temps, with the obvious caveat that these are my numbers at my house, subject to wild variations for the rest of you. Since 1993-94 I've recorded 61 instances of my temp falling to 0 or below. 3 of those occurrences happened last winter. 28 out of the past 32 winters has had at least one occurrence of my temp falling to 5 or below. There was one winter when my temp failed to fall below 15 the entire season. My lowest temp so far this winter is 5.7. Will I finally break the schneid tonight? There is a veil of high clouds on my southern horizon - if the deck stays south and winds subside, I'd think I'll drop lower tonight.

ChescoWx
So, with just 2 days left in the month I did a quick analysis to put into perspective how cold these first 2 months of the winter season have been across the Philly burbs of Chester County. This January is on pace to be a top 26 all-time cold January across 133 years of climate data since 1893. It is also our coldest first month of the year since 2014 It will also be a Top 20 all-time cold December/January start to winter. Plus, our coldest start to winter since 2010-11.
mahantango#1
Are we even in Pennsylvania anymore or the North Pole? Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania, is one of the coldest spots in the state this morning, sitting at a temperature of -23°F! This is recorded by a personal Weather Underground station. How cold is it in your backyard? Bundle up this morning!

I read they are concerned with the ice and Temperature for outdoor rink. To cold. I think it'll be around 14 degrees at 1PM. anyone @WmsptWx know what the temp was for the playoff game last year?

How cold is it in your backyard? Bundle up this morning! My wife grew up in Slippery Rock and graduated from HS there back in 1978. Also, my sister-in-law moved from Mt. Lebanon to Grove City last year. I'll have to ask my brother-in-law if he had a thermometer put up yet out back. He lives on a nearly totally level and almost treeless property of 1.5 acres. He got over 12" last Sunday. I have another sister-in-law (both of my wife's older sisters) who currently lives in Dayton, OH. They also reported over 12" of snow last Sunday. I was jipped!

I've waited 3 years to get Hockey Tickets for a game my daughter didn't have a bears game at same time. I like hockey, but her and my girlfriend are both rabid fans. Its fun listening to them, a Caps fan arguing with a Pens fan 1

Mount Joy Snowman
Not seeing much model support for mid-next week but still a ways to go. Might have to wait until the clipper swings through later in the week toward the weekend.
Yardstickgozinya
These are the first big changes we've seen to the SPC outlook in a long time. We had beautiful sunshine this morning and now it's overcast again. Perhaps I'd not hate winter so much if we could get some real sunshine between storms/disturbances. It seems mother nature heard you loud and clear. Seems after this last storm were getting sunshine back again. Kudos to you for waking up mother nature. Maybe you can persuade her to lighten up on these frigid temperatures. I guess you have to talk to her more often.

Took the sled out for an after work rip in the fields, and this shit is legit solid. Further compaction when we moderate next week could set the stage if we get more snow to follow, for a memorable stretch of snow days w/ 1" or more otg. Enough showing that I'd thin suppression depression will work its way back towards MA/NMA instead of the carolinas.

I've been praying to the one above even mother nature, but I've not had any luck. I just want normal. Low/mid 30's highs and 20 or so lows.
