...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM WEDNESDAY TO 10 AM ESTTHURSDAY...* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 5 and 9 inches. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph.* WHERE...In Maryland, Eastern Garrett and Western Garrett Counties. In West Virginia, Western Grant, Western Mineral, and Western Pendleton Counties.* WHEN...From 4 PM Wednesday to 10 AM EST Thursday.* IMPACTS...Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing snow. Near-blizzard conditions are expected at times, and will make travel treacherous and potentially life-threatening. Travel will be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes. The combination of gusty winds and heavy snowfall could bring down trees and powerlines, potentially resulting in numerous power outages.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The onset of near-blizzard conditions could be just before midnight on New Year`s Eve and continue into the early morning hours of New Year`s Day. There is a potential for hazardous commuting conditions for the Wednesday morning commute. A period of light snow is POSSIBLE (a 30 percent chance) Wednesday morning across the Baltimore / Washington metro areas as well as northeast and southern Maryland, with a light coating of snow accumulation possible on area roads. If this threat does materialize during the Wednesday morning rush-hour, many roads could quickly turn icy. This could lead to dangerous traveling conditions, multiple accidents, and extensive delays. If commuting Wednesday morning, be aware of the POSSIBILITY of significant travel disruptions. December was another DRY month.

I received 1.76" of rain and melted snow..........  68% of normal.

6.5" of snow gave .45" of q.p.

31 degrees at 2:30 with a 12 mph N.W. wind.

Made it to the Tug. About 2’ otg with about 45” forecast. We are northeast of Pulaski. Anyone who gets a wild hair and wants to attempt a chase, this is a big ol cabin with tons of room. LFG!!

I clouded over around 3 am and the flurries returned. It WAS 18.3 around 2 am, climbed once those clouds filled in. Up to 24.4/16.7 at 8 am here.

I’m a little less lighter on my feet these days with two little boys in tow but we made their (3 and 1) inaugural unplanned snow run to Canaan with me.

Blackwater Falls State Park this morning. 4-6 inches last 24 hours (still falling- IT JUST SNOWS HERE) with another 6-10 expected overnight.

Yes. This is where @dailylurker and I have our home base. Very intense rates for the last 2 hours. We’ve picked up at least a foot since 9 am…located about 10 miles east of Lacona, NY at around 1,400 feet. This is the “main” road.

Absolutely lol. We're having a good time up here at snow camp. We just got nuked by a intense band. Heaviest snow I've ever seen. We got about 2 feet in the past 4 hours lol. I'll never look at snow in the lowlands the same ever again. I'm pretty sure I'm buying a house up here to live in during winter. The economy around here depends on it. There's endless snowmobile trails. It's heaven.

So awesome!  Sounds like you all are having a great time!  Keep the pics coming!  It's likely the only snow I see this winter....

Completely overcast in DC (though NWS insists it's supposed to be "mostly sunny"). Haven't seen a single flake of snow, though.

Don’t know what the rest of winter holds, but this was a very solid December by our standards. Below to much below normal temps and normal to above normal snow for about everyone (sorry Winchester and Stephen’s City).

After a low of 24° this AM, every day in December has had a low of 32° or lower imby. Crazy stat - not sure when the last time a whole month would have lower minimums… maybe Feb 2015?
