This is comical. Guess who is in middle of that big dropout in totals? Me. Largely missed a lot of the banding and convective snow south and up north got into the waa snow more than here last night. This is better than anything last winter but when your expectations are for bigger totals, color me disappointed with this one.

6-8” is the forecast. Gonna need some serious rates to finish this.

 In my email exchange with NWS DLH, they said they have 18:1 there. This stuff is very light, and coming heavy still.

It has compacted so much here hard to tell. I'm right by Alta and saw a 6in report there. I did just notice that cutoff for that was just before 5. We still had some more snow after then. Not much but some. Definitely curious to see an updated map once more totals come in. But still guessing there will be lower totals in this area. We didn't get much from overnight and snow this morning was not of good quality. Wasn't till banding moved in and finally got some bigger flakes.

I measured 7.3" by me, first time measuring all day though so there was definitely compaction. I don't have great places to measure since I have a big tree out front and also in back of my house. The Naperville 2.5 ESE CoCoRaHS is probably only a little over a mile from me so I'll see what they come up with in the morning.

Measured on a table behind my house fairly shielded from wind and no trees. That said I’m sure we’ll find lots of variability.

Done here in Toledo with just over 3".   Not gonna buy the fake radar returns/virga that vanish before impact.  Just couldn't overcome the dry air for a major bust and underachiever.

I wouldn’t be shocked if another inch comes out of this. Looks like 5” out towards Napoleon & Wauseon. It must have been pretty nasty out by the border, they’ve shut down the roads in Williams County

This is correct.

The 6.9" of snow at ORD as of 6PM this evening means today has featured the largest calendar day snowfall since 7.0" fell on Nov 21st, 2015.

ORD is beyond that 6.9" total now for today, which means whatever the final snowfall total is today, today will feature the greatest calendar day snowfall since 16.2" on Feb 1st, 2015 (GHD2).

Up to 10” snow depth, if I measured hourly and wiped a board clean each time I’m sure we’d be at 12” total accumulation. Best welcome to winter!

After southeasterly winds all day we have now shifted to westerlies.  Nice little bonus area of enhanced snow moving in now.

5.9" is the final tally. Awesome hit by that LES band. 2.9" in an hour n 30 min. Pretty healthy snow rate at about 2"/hr.

We'll see if the snow out west in the DVN CWA rotates east to tack on more or not.

5.9” measures in South Bend at 7 pm. 10:00 update didn’t include a new South Bend measurement, but lots of 7-10” reports across northern Indiana.

I was just checking that out and the last few radar frames look decent. That could be the 1-2 inch topper to a great day.

Midnight 1st measure was 3.8" up here. Good stuff didn't start til sometime late evening.
