I appreciate your concern. That’s your take on things. I do not agree. I believe that any of this short term warming(with regard to a global time scale, not man’s)  is transitory, and will revert back at a later time.   Do I feel we should all be good stewards of the planet as much reasonably possible…absolutely.  But I just don’t buy in to it..I’m sorry.

Now, you can believe I’m sticking my head in the sand, I however do not feel that I am. I’d appreciate it if you left it at that.  I will not be going over to the CC change thread, so feel free to go there and discuss it all that you want.

Well, anyway ...   the increased variability and variance range ( large warm to cellar cold) that's been observably increasing during both autumn and spring ( transition seasons ) has already been geophysically demonstrated to be a function of CC. The altering of the circulation modes during those times of the year causes jet stream 'meanders' that increase frequency of transient blocking in the Ferrel latitudes ( up there around 60 N).  Those impose unusually early ( and late season) cold and snow delivery to mid latitudes.  But the integral of the whole Earth at the time that is occurring is in a state of d(warmth).

But ... if one cannot understand the reality of CC to begin with... not sure how explaining why the circulation modes are changing, as part of CC, will ever get successfully registered.

Not understanding how or why something works, is not a veracious reason to adjudicate a subject matter as false.   I suspect though that isn't the case here;  no one is lacking the intellectual capacity; the lack of admitting or acceptance is most likely for political bias blinding.

Anything is possible.

Is it possible the micro-second that we’ve been here on this planet, has nothing to do with any warming or cooling going on possible?

So you do buy into the idea that at this present time the climate is warming?

It seems like a few times you've alluded to a warming climate and accept that... but then when someone else says its warming, you make it sound like its nonsense.

Sorry to drag it out, I think understanding viewpoints is important so like to ask questions.  I'm mostly curious with: Do you think it is warming? (I do not care how the cause plays into this discussion).

I feel my position is any short term(again on a global time scale)warming that is, or may be currently happening, is insignificant, and will revert back the other way, just as any cooling also did. It’s these fluctuations that is our climate. I do not feel it is caused by us.  And the globe has done this for eons before we were here(and on a massive scale at times) , and will continue to do it long after we are gone.

That’s my feeling. Nobody has to agree. I do not bring it up. Others do, and bust balls..and that’s cool too, but I don’t try and change anybody’s mind…believe and feel what you want.

It’s all good.. getting out of work, and going to drink some beer now.  Hoping for a fast start to this years winter.  Have a great evening gentlemen.

Not going to lie, I think it’s pretty garbage that we cater to an anti-science crowd and temper tantrums, when it comes to the very obvious human influenced warming of the earth. On a science and weather forum no less.

Just calling it like it is.

well, pretty soon the snowmobile crowd will be relegated to northern Manitoba, so those posts will be gone.

Driving 20 hours to find snow for snowmobiling

Well that’s why I don’t even debate temps anymore. It’s hard to know how much could be a natural cycle vs anthropogenic induced. Obviously we know there’s a lot of heat being added in order to raise the ocean temps and melt the arctic ice/permafrost, but it’s more difficult comparing changes in 2m temps globally…heck we have a hard enough time doing it with a single station with siting changes.

But for me there’s no getting around the runaway CO2 levels. I’ve said it many times, but just clean that up and let the temps be whatever they may be. Who wants all of those emissions in the atmosphere anyway? I just don’t understand why it has to come down across party lines. It’s so mind numbingly dumb.

I’ll come out of hibernation and bite against my better judgement. It’s funny (or not) how CC became such a bipartisan issue. I was watching the documentary The White House Effect on Netflix last night and didn’t realize how seriously the bush administration took global warming, at first accepting the scientific facts but eventually whitewashing it as up to debate.

How much we have regressed since then is depressing. It should not be a D vs R issue.

Anyways hope all of you are well. Just got a snowmaking gun delivered to work today so I’ll be making and frolicking in the white stuff before the rest of you weenies.

Like I said.  I believe in CC and that men can’t have babies.  Somehow both are heavily political

Correct, it shouldn’t be political, it’s just facts.

We know certain human processes are bad for the environment, yet some people choose to believe otherwise. All in the name of owning the opposing political party, I guess?

I don’t even want to debate warming or melting. Can we all just agree that the CO2 isn’t normal? Can we at least try to get that back down to the baseline? It shouldn’t be a partisan thing. We’re all science people here.

So parts ppm got it. Hey maybe look elsewhere as well before putting all your chicken eggs in the basket. Why does it have to be one thing. Underwater volcanoes, the sun output, water vapor affects on night time lows etc. We can discuss rationaly. Not laugh or demean (Scooter)

By the way finishing construction of new coop and connected hoop coop. Getting there new solar auto door light sensitive or programmed.

What has triggered the sudden increase in CO2 from baseline over the last hundred or so years then? And there’s no sign of it leveling off. In theory a warmer atmosphere from more trapped heat can hold more water too…hence the higher dewpoint levels.

But you have been a fan of the sediment and ice core data in the past and they have ways to determine the annual CO2 from those layers. Like the graph I posted earlier shows, it’s pretty much ranged from 200-300ppm over the last 800k years. So 425ppm and steadily climbing isn’t normal variation…at least it isn’t to my eyes.

Nice on the coop door. I’ve been wanting one, but I’m always afraid something will fail and it will open up at night. My birds are molting hard right now. Big winter incoming? I got them all winterized yesterday.

Its more the condescending elitist manner that defines some here. Fucking science constantly evolves what we think to be true scientifically sometimes isn't.  I know the earth is warming but there's always the yin and yang theorem. It would be nice to read more discussions rather than I know all because I am scientist. Its what went wrong in America.Ya know some of us deplorables can think rationaly

What is your reticence in accepting this very simple, objectively real fact that anthropomorphic C02 forcing is causing an acceleration of warming?

You either lack the mental capacity, or you are fucking with us...either way, this grows tiresome and in fact - it matters that it is growing tiresome, because people like you, not respecting the peril the world is facing, are ultimately a detriment to finding a salvation from and panacea for this crisis.

I'll explain this once in simple words:  Yes, obvious records reveal that climate varies naturally over a wide range of time scales, but never as fast as since the Industrial Revolution. And as others have directly described in no uncertain terms, this has been verified by atmospheric chemistry to be 1:1 correlated to  C02 surplus that cannot be explained as originating from any other source.

Moreover, "normal variability"  ( to which you don't know your ass from a hole in the ground frankly because you have no accredidation to demonstrate otherwise ) cannot explain the observed warming since the 1950s - until the C02 humanity is responsible for is factored.  Hook line and sinker.  It is therefore among the most extremely likely scenarios known to statistical math, > 95%, that human C02 ( and actually there are also other industrial out-gassing that contribute, btw) is the cause of that warming.

There is no other cause.   Global Warming is happening because of anthropomorphic forcing.

The beauty of all this is that it is true whether you believe it or not.
