What’s your average? 30”?

Manchester averages roughly 37 inches overall. The Highest ridges and areas which reach almost 1130 ft. are probably at 40-42 inches for an average with the lowest valleys at 800 ft. In the 34-35 range. My house is approximately 860-870 ft. so I always say 37 when asked.

I am at 19.4 inches off of 8 snow events. A bad Nino. And this will be the first Nino I can remember not hitting climo if we are done.

2023-2024 Season Total:  19.4  (67% of climo)

11/28  T  First flakes of the season from a streamer. Temps around freezing 25 MPH winds.

12/10/23  .75  Wave rides a front. 58 going in. slushy 3/4 inch on the back.

1/1/24  T  Little wave rolls through with afternoon show showers.

1/6/24  2.3  Storm tracks through Southern VA. Mixed bag drops over 2 inches.

1/9/24  1.5  Thump from a strong MW blizzard. Roads a disaster.

1/14/23  .3 Squall comes with heavy rates and wind.

1/15/23  3.25 Boundary sets up to the south. Light rates for 20 hours.

1/19/24  5.6  Overnight rates good. Light snow all day. Mod with streamers in the evening.

2/13/24  2.9  Perfect track Mostly rain. Ends as a pummeling of mashed potatoes.

2/16/23  2.7  Northern vorst disappoints. Forecast was 4-6. Got less than 3.

12/7/23:   T (maybe a T on 12/6/23 too but I was not home to see it/verify it)

12/11/23: .8"

1/6/24:  T (two hours of winter storm watch - yay! - rapidly converted to winter weather advisory - still ok... - then -- a little sleet and snow and a LOT of rain...sigh)

1/14/24 - T

1/15/24 (a little into the early AM on 1/16 too)  -   4"

1/19/24 - 3"

2/13/24 - .7" I guess - slushy hard to measure

2/17/24 - 3.5”

Season total -    12”

That’s about right. In colder winters there isn’t much difference between my house and say Ebb Valley EM in the valley. But if we keep having winters where most of our snow even up here comes with temps right at 32-33 degrees then the difference will continue to be greater. 200-300 feet which often equates to 1 degree matters way more when it’s near freezing every storm. Back when it used to snow at like 20 degrees up here not so much. The upslope qpf difference is pretty marginal imo. It’s just ratios in marginal near freezing events.
