I can’t believe I’m typing this but this may be the worst Metro event since Sandy. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that my area continues to dodge a bullet. I don’t think the true scope of what’s happened tonight will come to light until tomorrow and the following days either.

Looks like my area jackpotted with 8"+ amounts. Very happy not to have a basement as everyone around me had basement flooding. 

I'm on a hill but downstream there's loads of flooded roadways. Even after the rain ends we'll see some major river flooding. 

All this from the remnants of a tropical system.

Reminds me of the remnants of Hurricane Patricia in Oct 2015 when I was in Austin. Parts of the city had 15” from that mostly falling that morning. That’s still by far the heaviest rain I’ve ever seen. It probably beat the rain rates in this storm even. That reminded me of the Aug 2014 event in Islip.

but for whatever reason they rain themselves out before they make it too far east on Long Island

it's like with winter storms, temps always drop off in the western part of long island first

what happened up here with Camille? The only thing I know about it is that it was a Cat 5 that hit the Gulf, no news of anything it did once it came inland
