In the past hour, NYC’s Central Park received 1.38” of rain. This is the 3rd hourly figure of 1.35” or more this year. That breaks the #record of 2 such days, which had been set in 2006.

It looks like more heavy rain developing on the radar over S NJ and moving onshore from the ocean so there should be plenty more to come.

Insane rain here in Brooklyn Heights.  Just got back from Bermuda and the air outside here has the same tropical feel to it.

manhole explosions in areas thwt don’t have above ground lines

I would not pull the plug yet on TS winds...if the wind field expands enough its possible the 16-21Z period could see gusts of 40-45 in W Suffolk but that may be pushing it.

I had one once when I lived in Austin TX in May 2015 during the epic floods there. It was crazy. Creeks overflowed and literally flowed through downtown. If it’s an emergency NWS isn’t messing around at all.
