tossing the towel on this one. north trend will continue imo.

Same here. I had the towel in hand after last night's runs and have officially tossed it now at least for the big snows. It looks like a 3-6 thump is likely for the immediate metro depending on where you're located, probably closer to 6 for you.

@LibertyBell, today is exactly halfway between the 2017 and 2024 eclipses. Only 1,211 days left until my next serotonin molecule is released!

wow interesting!  You're going to chase the eclipse of course ;-)  I'm looking around for the best place to see it in, thinking of going to Watertown....would you recommend that?

I would never accept that, unless we in the N&W/N&E sub forum were allowed to then conquer and annex the southern New England Forum into the NYC forum.

We must keep a balance, there's already to many south of I78ers here., and I don't like their climate.

it would be an uncivil war each and every day

i can't wait for the drama in 36 hours

looking at the bounty of razor-thin forecasts and models, it's entirely possible every single person in the entire forum ends up unhappy

Well, Will,  if if your right than the reports of an atmospheric professional, with a kitchen utensil moniker, running around “NYC” opening windows to enhance the UHI effect, are probably true. As always ....

i could be having a heart attack in the middle of dinner and my grandmother would still be shoveling meatballs on my plate instead of calling 911

If mine,  May she rest,  saw me at my present 140 lbs, i would be force fed while chained to the kitchen table. As always ....

I've been a snow lover since childhood in the 1950's. Regardless of my IMBY outcome, my wife of 45 years and I are hunkered down tonight in eastern Monmouth Co, and enjoying every bit of this event thus far; wood fire, good music, good drinks, all is well!

Just wanted to thank a couple posters for the ride this week before the blush of the event has passed.....

First, MJO812 Met Fan,  I've never met or come in contact with another individual feeling the same way I do about snow. I got your back no matter what you post!

And then wdrag.... I'm a professional engineer of of over 40 years and about to retire and admire you carrying your knowledge beyond your professional requirements to all of us...thank you!

Happy Holidays to all!!

I can only think of one time where NYC got a 10" storm in December and did not get another snowstorm almost equal or bigger...one of 20 times?...

do you have snowfall totals for our official reporting stations?  My favorite part of this event was between 3:30 am and 7 am when the temps plummeted and we had near white out conditions with heavy snow and high winds here....didn't expect that at all.

Just my thought after getting a really nice night's sleep after not checking the boards since last night and waking up to a nice snow (Granted, not the outrageous amounts forecasted, but I think from reading here, we kinda knew that would occur in the back of our minds):

This is the kind of storm we would have really enjoyed and hoped for as kids, but we’ve been spoiled so much in the the last 25 years and have been conditioned to frown upon and be disappointed with 8 to 12 of fast-accumulating snow with sleet and howling winds, ending with snow swirling in bitter cold. And a week before Christmas to boot!

P.S. I'm guessing we got somewhere in the 8-12 range here in MMU; the winds are making it difficult to gauge. Many rooves are clean this morning.
